We Are Called To Be A Vessel Of
Honour
By Peter James from: www.peterjamesx.com
Romans
9:21
Hath not the
potter power over the clay, of the same lump
to
make one vessel unto honour,
and
another unto dishonour?
Many believers do
not really understand their calling.
There are many
documents on the website,
which are
designed to help everyone, who is called
to grasp how
awesome is their calling.
Quite understandably,
many are
confused, about what is required of them.
Some go church
hopping, as they hope that they will find
a church, which
will be the only ‘One True Church’.
Inevitably this
fails, as there is no such organisation of men,
that classifies
as the ‘One True Church’.
Many occupy
themselves with good works,
not that there is
anything wrong with helping others.
In fact this is a
requirement, but it is not really the answer.
At the end of the document, I will give some related
documents, which are essential reading.
We were called
before the foundation of the world,
when our human
spirits were formed.
This verse puts
it all in a nutshell.
What
did we have to do with our calling?
Absolutely
nothing.
It is not because
we are execeptional, or good people,
who go to
meetings on our chosen day of the week,
give our tithes,
and offerings, and any other activity whatsoever.
Our Calling is a total gift, pure and
simple.
Ephesians
1:4 According as He (Christ)
hath chosen us in Him
before
the foundation of the world,
(1) that we should be holy and
(2) without blame
(3) before
Him in love:
The
above verse makes it clear that the objective is that
(1) we
will become holy
(2)
and without blame,
(3) according
to the standards of Christ, and not our warped standards..
and our meagre possessions, and acclaim
by men,
What does point 3
actually mean in practice?
It
is not a vague emotion of feeling good.
The question is,
how do we actually show our love for the Eternal God?
The very simple
answer is by doing what He tells us to do.
It does not tell
us to do what Peter tells us, or pastor Tom, Dick, or Harriet.
John
14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
We are commanded
to do many things, and these commands
do not make us
any better than another person,
and neither do
they give us salvation.
Often they are to
help us to remember the Eternal God,
and they are to
help us to understand, that our lives are not our
own to do exactly
as we wish, although most people like to think exactly this.
They say it is my
life, I can do exactly what I want with it,
as I am not
hurting anyone else.
This is
a Satanic lie.
What
we affects the entire body of Christ, for good or evil,
and
also the entire world, regardless of where we live.
This is the
simple reality.
In
life, we are either a blessing to others, or we are a curse.
There is no other
option.
The problem is
that we have to start by honestly dealing with ourselves.
We can quite
easily fool ourselves, that all is well with us,
but until we sort
out ourselves, and admit to living a lie,
we are most
certainly on the wrong track, regardless of what
we might think.
Our
priority in life must be to get our lives into a condition,
that is acceptable to Christ, before anything else
at all.
If we
do not do this, we will most surely fail to be a vessel of honour.
The consequence
of this will be unnecessary suffering,
which could
easily have been avoided.
Shakespeare
said it very well in his play Hamlet.
”This
above all: to thine ownself be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.” - Shakespeare-Hamlet
quote by LanThi ;
article by Dr. Irene (February 2, 2000)
Truth is also love. The
greatest act of love towards another is living a life that is truthful.
For those of us who find it
difficult to love ourselves, we will find it will come more easily
when we walk in truth about who we
are.

The
statement that all roads lead to Rome, is a great truth,
however,
all roads do not lead to the Eternal God, and salvation.
There
is only one road, just one way, that is all.
Truth demands change.
Change demands humility, and a complete change of lifestyle.
Few are prepared to move out of their comfort zone.
Truth is not intellectual understanding.
Truth is Christ, and there is only one way,
not countless ways.
Christ said,
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I
am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by
Me.
If you look at the temple in the Old Testament, which is a model
of the temple in heaven, there was only a single entrance,
not multiple entrances.
Note
that to get into
the
courtyard, there was only one way,
the
holy place, there was only one way,
the
most holy place, there was only one way.
http://the-tabernacle-place.com/articles/what_is_the_tabernacle/tabernacle_ark_of_the_covenant
Any accurate model of the
temple,
ancient or modern, must have
these three single door entrances.

Until you
confront yourself, with the lie, which you are living,
you will not only
stagnate, but you will also go backwards,
although you
might feel, that you are going forward.
This is a
biblical fact.
Isaiah
28:13 But the word of
the LORD was unto them precept upon precept,
precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little,
and there a
little; that they might go,
and
fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.
I
know of several such situations.
I
am constantly saying the very same things,
as
these things just do not seem to sink into the hearts of people.
To fail is to become a vessel of dishonour.
Jeremiah
7:24 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear,
but walked in the
counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart,
and
went backward, and not forward.
Luke
8:18 Take heed
therefore how ye hear: for
whosoever hath,
to him shall be
given; and whosoever hath not,
from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
This
is what Christ said through the apostle Paul.
Human
beings, are composed of only two types of vessels.
One
group of vessels are made for honour,
and
the other group is made for dishonour.
Romans
9:21
(1) Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump
(2) to make one vessel unto honour,
(3) and
another unto dishonour?
I know that there
are many people, who like to question the Eternal God.
They ask, why
would He do this that and the other.
As
they feel, that they are the sum total of wisdom,
and
that they know a better way.
This
is of course absolute absurd nonsense.
If we have not
experienced the consequences of doing something wrong,
which we can call
sin, how would we avoid it the next time?
We
would not.
Unfortunately,
many experience pain, from their actions,
but they go right
ahead, and carry on their wrong activities any way.
As our Rhema
explained,
Freewill is not, something
that you are given.
Freewill is part of what you actually
are.
This is why hell is not accepted, and
understood by many.
Freewill is not simply a matter of choice,
it is an actual part of our being.
Consequently the major part of our battle is
against our Freewill.
It is normal for believers to think that
their battle is against
everything, and everyone else against
except themselves.
The above means that regardless of how pretty, handsome, bright,
intelligent, and all the other qualities,
which we might have,
there is a battle going on right within
our own body,
and it is a battle, which we have to win.
Here we see created man complaining to
His maker.
I have often heard people screaming ‘Why God’,
when they do not agree with what is happening,
or when something bad happens.
Immediately the
blame is pinned on the Eternal God.
It is very rare, that I hear people take responsibility
for their condition,
or their attitude. I do not hear people say that this
is judgment,
for what I, or we have done, or are doing.
Alternatively it can be just the normal events,
which the Eternal God requires that we experience,
for our individual growth and development.
Believers like to say, that they are going
through a ‘Job’ experience.
However, the reality is that they do not
come anywhere near
the righteousness of Job, whatever they
might like to think.
The Eternal God said that there was only one
man of the calibre
of Job on the entire planet. I will say no
more!!
The apostle Paul is dealing with a very
common issue,
and not something that is very rare.
Romans
9:20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest
against God?
Shall the
thing formed say to him that formed it,
Why hast thou made me thus?
Can you envisage a piece of clay, complaining to the potter,
who is treating it exceedingly roughly, as he batters it about,
to get all the air out of it, and to get it to the required consistency,
that it wanted to be a plate, with beautiful pictures on it,
but instead, it was made into a plain white waste container?
Clay never answers back, and it does not complain.
Romans
9:21
(1) Hath not the potter power over the
clay, of the same lump
(2) to make one vessel unto honour,
(3) and another unto dishonour?
We
can even express displeasure, when there is no reason to do so,
but
even then we are still wrong to question the Eternal God.
1 Peter
4:12 Beloved, think it not strange
concerning
the fiery trial which is to try you,
as
though some strange thing happened unto you:
We can be
certain that whatever is our condition,
there are
countless other people, who make our complaints
seem less
than trivial.
Therefore our attitude should always be one of
thanksgiving,
and contentment.
I am often saying that a
primary objective of the entire bible,
is to show all mankind, and the
spiritual realm of angels,
and evil spirits, that the
Eternal is God,
and that we will respect and obey Him, period.
I have also stated many times that the entire creation
exists in order to give pleasure to the Eternal God,
who created it in the first place.
Revelation
4:11
(1) Thou art worthy, O Lord,
(2) to
receive glory
(3) and
honour
(4) and power:
(5) for thou hast created all things,
(6) and for thy pleasure
(7) they are and were created.
It needs to be very clear in our minds,
that the Eternal God, knows, the past, the present, and the future.
He knew which vessels would choose dishonour,
but he made them any way.
How could
I make such claims?
It is
absolutely absurd for us to think that we can compete with the Eternal God.
He can
tell the difference between our thoughts and our intents,
even
before we have our thoughts !!
We cannot even understand crystal clear very simple
words,
such as listen and obey.
Hebrews
4:12 For the word of God is quick, and
powerful,
and
sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing
asunder
of soul and spirit, and of the joints and
marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the
heart.
The following verse tells us, that the Eternal God,
suffered for a very long time with the vessels of dishonour,
the self appointed exceptional, basest of people, on planet earth.
If it was
His plan to simply destroy the vessels,
which He
had made, why would He have patience with them,
rather
than just quickly destroy them?
Christ suffered and suffers, a great deal of pain,
as these people serve Satan, in preference to serving Him,
they committed idolatry, lust, covet, lie, murder,
practice paedophila, adultery, fornication, bestiality,
and every sexual depravity imaginable, and unbelievable violence
against other human beings, who are also made in the image of the Eternal
God,
and all in an ever increasing crescendo.
Christ
himself told us, for whom He died.
We can say
the good, the bad, and the ugly.
In other
words everyone, period.
John
3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son,
that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
It is critically important to remember,
that Christ also died for all these most
abominable people.
Romans
9:22 What if God, willing to shew his
wrath,
and to
make his power known,
endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to
destruction:
Now we have some astoundingly wonderful good news, for the vessels
of honour. They are going to experience the following:
Romans
9:23
(1) And that he might make known
(2) the riches of his glory
(3) on the vessels of mercy,
(4) which he had afore prepared unto glory,
Romans
9:24
(5) Even us, whom he hath called,
(6) not of the Jews only,
(7) but also of the Gentiles?
Yes the work in
us, is the work of the Eternal God.
We are the
beneficiaries, and we do not want to foolishly
elevate ourselves
to the point of our destruction,
as we elevate
ourseleves to being exceptional,
and wiser than
the Eternal God .
Below, is the full context of the
subject of this document,
You will see the above sentiments,
clearly spelt out.
There
is a specific lifestyle that we need to practice.
By practice I mean that it has to become
an intrinsic part of our very being.
The
points are highlighted here:
1
Thessalonians 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound
in love one
toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
1
Thessalonians 3:13
To the end he may
stablish your hearts unblameable
in holiness before God, even our Father,
at the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ
with all his saints.
1
Thessalonians 4:1 ¶
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren,
and exhort you by
the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us
how ye ought to
walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
1
Thessalonians 4:2 For ye know what commandments we gave you
by the Lord
Jesus.
1
Thessalonians 4:3
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification,
that ye should abstain from fornication:
1
Thessalonians 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess
his vessel in
sanctification and honour;
1
Thessalonians 4:5
Not in the lust of
concupiscence, (forbidden desires)
even as the
Gentiles which know not God:
1
Thessalonians 4:6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother
in any matter: because that the
Lord is the avenger of all such,
as we also have
forewarned you and testified.
1
Thessalonians 4:7
For God hath not called
us unto uncleanness,
but unto holiness.
1
Thessalonians 4:8
He therefore that
despiseth, despiseth not man,
but God, who hath also given unto us
his holy Spirit.
This
is the primary verse of this document,
2
Timothy 2:20 But in a great
house there are not only vessels of gold
and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth;
and
some to honour,
and some to dishonour.
These following verses, specifically define the
actions of vessels of honour.
Remember,
that when the bible was translated the books were not divided
into
chapters and verses, as we see them today.
So
we can see, that the requirements of vessels of honour carries on
into
the next chapter.
2
Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God,
a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed,
rightly
dividing the word of truth.
2
Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings:
for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2
Timothy 2:17 And their word will eat as doth a
canker:
of whom is
Hymenaeus and Philetus;
2
Timothy 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred,
saying that the
resurrection is past already;
and overthrow the faith of some.
2 Timothy
2:19 ¶ Nevertheless
the foundation of God standeth sure,
having this seal,
The Lord knoweth them that
are his.
And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2
Timothy 2:20 But in a great house
there are not only vessels of gold
and of silver,
but also of wood and of earth;
and some to honour,
and some to dishonour.
A
vessel of honour, means that one is
sanctified, that is set apart
for
Christ’s use, and one is prepared to do every good work,
which
Christ decides, and not the lusts of the person.
We
are then told, that we have to be purged from a huge list
of
unacceptable practices and sins.
2
Timothy 2:21
(1) If a man therefore purge himself from these,
(2) he shall be a vessel unto
honour,
(3) sanctified,
(4) and meet for the master’s use,
(5) and prepared unto every
good work.
In practice, we have to let Christ purge us.
We
cannot clean up ourselves.
Of ourselves, we are even unable to see that there is
anything
wrong with us in the first place.
Regardless of how
wicked, and depraved a person is,
man tends to
think, that he/she is quite good really,
but unfortunately it is the others, that are around
them, or in the world,
who have serious problems.
I
explain yet again.
(1) It is Christ, who calls us.
(2) It is Christ, who washes us clean.
(3) It is Christ, who gives us a new heart.
(4) It is Christ, who gives us a new human spirit.
(5) It is Christ, who enters us as the Holy Spirit.
(6) It is Christ, who writes His laws on to our new heart and our minds.
(Yes
the very same laws, which the wicked claim no longer exist,
how
totally absurd is that. To imagine that the Eternal God made
a
mistake with His laws, in the first place.
This
shows total ignorance of the Eternal God and His Word.
Laws
apply to every single human being in exactly the very same way.
Hebrews
10:16 This is the
covenant that I will make with them after
those days, saith
the Lord, I will put my laws into their
hearts,
and in
their minds will I write them;
It does not stop
there
It is only after the above, that we are now
on the bottom rung
of obedience and that we can start to obey
the Eternal God.
I really wish people would stop telling me,
how they are going to change, and do this
that and the other.
It is only after points (5) and (6), that we are able to do
what is required in point (7) .
I have explained
this in detail in many documents,
(see
the list at end of this document)
but most are
still in confusion, after they say that they have been “saved”
for even many
dozens of years.
In effect they
are living a lie.
Are you also living a lie?
(7) Ezekeiel 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you,
and cause you to walk in my statutes,
and ye shall keep my judgments,
and do them.
2
Timothy 2:21
(1) If a man therefore purge himself from these,
(2) he shall be a vessel
unto honour,
(3) sanctified,
(4) and meet for the master’s use,
(5) and prepared unto every
good work.
2
Timothy 2:22 ¶ Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness,
faith,
charity,
peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2
Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions
avoid,
knowing that they
do gender strifes.
2
Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not
strive;
but be gentle unto all men,
apt to teach,
patient,
Here
we are clearly told that repentance and acknowledging
God
is a gift from God, Himself.
Notice that we are clearly told that we
are the problem.
It is we who oppose ourselves, and allow
ourselves to be
captured by our adversary.
It is not what other people are doing to us at all.
Often
we want to change things, supposedly for the better,
when
we do not even know what the real problem is in the first place.
This
is absolutely strange.
As I
often say, let us leave the Eternal God to do His work.
He
does not need our help.
If we
can just listen and obey what we are told, all will be well.
2
Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves;
if God
peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging
of the truth;
2
Timothy 2:26 And that they
may recover themselves out of the snare
of the devil, who
are taken captive by him at his will.
We
are warned that the end times, which are now,
are
going to be very perilous indeed, and so it is here
for
all to clearly see.
2
Timothy 3:1 ¶ This know
also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
Now
follows an extensive list of sins.
Read
them carefully.
2
Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own
selves,
covetous,
boasters,
proud,
blasphemers,
disobedient to parents,
unthankful,
unholy,
2
Timothy 3:3
Without natural affection,
trucebreakers,
false accusers,
incontinent,
fierce,
despisers of those that are good,
2
Timothy 3:4
Traitors,
heady,
highminded,
lovers of pleasures more
than lovers of God;
We
are then told to avoid wicked people.
As
Christ said ‘Be ye separate’.
If
you are not you, will be contaminated,
as
if you have been struck by a virus,
and
medicine does not kill viruses, because they are not alive
in
the first place.
2
Timothy 3:5
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:
from such turn away.
2
Timothy 3:6
For of this sort are they which creep into houses,
and lead captive silly women laden with sins,
led away with divers lusts,
2
Timothy 3:7
Ever learning,
and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Just
as these two mentioned below, there are countless false
servants
of God, who are actually directly serving Satan.
2
Timothy 3:8 Now as Jannes
and Jambres withstood Moses,
so do these also resist the truth:
men of corrupt minds,
reprobate concerning the faith.
2
Timothy 3:9 But they shall
proceed no further:
for their folly shall be manifest unto all men,
as theirs also
was.
Apostle
Paul tells us some of the things which he had to endure,
and
out of which he had been delivered.
2
Timothy 3:10 ¶ But thou hast fully known my
doctrine,
manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity,
patience,
2
Timothy 3:11 Persecutions, afflictions,
which came unto
me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra;
what persecutions I endured:
but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
2 Timothy
3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ
Jesus
shall suffer persecution.
Paul
then returns to the all encompassing wickedness,
as
the evil ones not only deceive others,
but
they themselves are deceived, though they
appear as angels of light..
2
Timothy 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving,
and being deceived.
Note
the apostle Paul does not say that any scriptures
have
been eliminated.
He
states All scripture, not some, has
definte purposes.
2
Timothy 3:16
All scripture
is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof,
for correction,
for instruction in righteousness:
We
are then told the purpose of this verse.
What
is it?
It is to enable us to become perfect vessels of honour.
2
Timothy 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.
2
Timothy 4:1 ¶ I charge thee
therefore before God,
and the Lord
Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick
and the dead at
his appearing and his kingdom;
2
Timothy 4:3 For
the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers,
having itching ears;
2
Timothy 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears
from the truth,
and shall be turned unto fables.
2
Timothy 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure
afflictions, . . .
The priority in the life of each and every one of us,
is to make sure that we are becoming vessels of
honour.
This is the
second to the last verse from the book of Enoch,
which is Chapter 108.
11"And now
I will summon the spirits of the good who belong
to the generation of light, and I will transform those who
were born in darkness,
who in the flesh were not recompensed with such honour as
their faithfulness deserved.
12 And I will
bring forth in shining light those who have loved My holy name,
and I will seat each on the throne
of his honour.
(The book of Revelation says the very same
thing)
13 And they shall be resplendent for
times without number;
for righteousness is the judgement of God; for to the
faithful He will give
faithfulness in the habitation of upright paths.
Enoch
Chapter 103
I know a mystery
And have read the heavenly tablets,
And have seen the holy books,
And have found written therein and inscribed regarding them:
3That all
goodness and joy and glory are prepared for them,
And written down for the spirits of those who have died in righteousness,
And that manifold good shall be given to you in recompense for your labours,
And that your lot is abundantly beyond the lot of the living.
4 And the
spirits of you who have died in righteousness shall live and rejoice,
And their spirits shall not perish, nor their memorial from before the face of
the Great One
Unto all the generations of the world: wherefore no longer fear their
contumely.
These two sets of
verses from the Book of Enoch,
do not begin to
tell us what the future will be like as vessels of honour.
1
Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor
ear heard,
neither
have entered into the heart of man,
the things which
God hath prepared for them that love him.
