Is Believing In God Enough ?

This is a comment, which I received:
“I feel like as if there are many people out there,
who most definitely believe in God,
strive to live a life in him, follow the commands, etc.
They know to live a life in him, but still have trouble just being able
to - I guess 'accept'- how very real He is.
I guess what I'm saying, is that people reach a point of uncertainty,
because it's to much for them to handle.
But still live in faith.
I feel maybe a good way to show an example of that,
is Zacharias in Luke 1:20
"And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak,
until the day that these things shall be performed,
because thou believest not my words,
which shall be fulfilled in their season."
This is a subject I've been on for awhile.
Looking for possible input.
Much thanks”
This is my response.
This is
not a simple issue at all.
I will
address all the relevant points, and its associated topics,
which are
raised by this subject.
Let us go right back to the beginning,
in the garden of Eden.
With
perfect bodies, and having been placed,
in the
most ideal and the most beautiful location possible,
and with
the best teacher in the entire creation,
their
Creator, Christ, Adam and Eve,
made the
conscious decision, to accept Satan’s offer,
to become
gods.
They were
not satisfied,
and
contented with their most blessed condition.
They
foolishly thought that there was something else
better,
which was available to them, as Satan had lied to them.
So they
wanted to become ‘God’.
All that they needed to do, was to obey what Christ,
the Eternal God had told them.
That was all.
It is very important to understand that our calling,
and our walk with the Eternal God, is NOT based
on feelings and emotions.
Today the
situation is precisely the same, as it was for Adam and Eve.
Most
people, believers, or non believers,
question,
where is God, in the midst of all the violence,
pain and
suffering, which is engulfing us.
They are
saying that they could do a better job,
than the
Eternal God.
This again
is quite normal for a carnal human being.
Judges
21:25 In those days there
was no king in Israel:
every
man did that which was right in his own eyes.
This means that the people made gods in their own image.
However, they wanted ‘God’ to be, that is how they made Him.
He would be, what I call a ‘Gimme
God’.
God would fulfill all their desires, down to the smallest detail.
This would be the purpose of their God.
Many
people do believe in a ‘God’.
This is
true in Western, and Eastern religions,
where they
can also believe in countless gods.
It is not a big deal to believe in God.
Even devils
believe, and even tremble,
whilst
countless human beings neither believe nor tremble.
James
2:19 Thou
believest that there is one God;
thou doest well: the devils also believe, and
tremble.
It is what
you do, with what you understand of the Truth,
that is
important.
I must make it very clear, that I do not question the sincerity,
of any of these people.
With
respect, I do not for a
moment believe that the following is true.
“. . . most . . . strive to live a life in him, follow the commands, etc.
They know to live a life in him,”
At the
very best, most try to live by the standards of their parents.
This is
hugely problematic, because in most cases,
these are
very bad role models, as very, very few people,
have any
idea whatsoever, about the Eternal God, and what He requires.
It can get
much worse, if one allows oneself, to live by the standards
of his or
her peers.
Both
situations lead do great disasters.
To find
people, who actually know the commandments,
and
actually obey them, as the Eternal God tells us,
is as rare
as hen’s teeth.
I know
many people, who can quote the bible,
when you
are speaking to them, but this is quite meaningless,
when their
lifestyles differ from what they say.
Often they
do not even understand that which they quote.
Many of
these people can be decent, and sincere,
but that
is not the subject being discussed here.
The Eternal God alone, has to call anyone,
and then He, and He alone can convert a person,
and open the mind, as I have often explained.
Seven times we are told that,
I the Eternal God
will do everything for the new convert.
Ezekeil
36:25 ¶ Then will I sprinkle
clean water upon you,
and ye
shall be clean: from all your filthiness,
and from
all your idols, will I cleanse you.
Ezekeil
36:26 A new heart also will
I give
you,
and a new
spirit will I
put within you: and I will take away
the stony
heart out of your flesh,
and I will give you
an heart of flesh.
Ezekeil
36:27 And I will put my
spirit within you,
and cause
you to walk in my statutes,
and ye
shall keep my judgments, and do them.
The reality is
that almost all of these well meaning people,
will tolerate
much that might be said to them,
however, mention the law, mention all the
commandments,
mention obedience, and you will almost every time hit a solid
brick wall.
This has been my
experience over a great many years.
These three
points are great conversation stoppers.
If you tell others,
that they have to make changes to their lives,
and that they
have to give up some practices, as they are not of God,
it is very rare,
that you will find that they are receptive.
You will be told
that the law is no longer relevant for us today.
It has been
replaced by ‘Grace’, by which they really mean,
that now anything
is acceptable, and as I often say,
they expect that
Christ will give them a group hug,
and welcome them
to Heaven, after the Rapture.
Both
of these scenarios are pure fiction.
Heaven
is not the destination of the saved,
and
neither is there any escape from the impending judgment
by
being raptured away somewhere.
I think that once
again they must mean being raptured to heaven.
You can only know
to live the life, which Christ requires of us,
if Christ as the
Holy Spirit is actually living in us,
as stated in Ezekiel 36:25 - 27 above.
I am yet to find a beliver who understands this.
Most people, who
claim to be believers have no idea,
who or what the
Holy Spirit is.
They do not
believe,
that Christ, and
the Father are literally the same being,
that the nation
called Israel, which they support, is a counterfeit nation,
that the God of
the Old Covenant, is the very same God of the New Covenant,
that the word
Israelite and Jews, are not synonymns,
that Sunday is
not the Sabbath, and Sunday observance is of Satan,
that the
crucifixion was not on Friday, and the resurrection not on Sunday,
that we cannot
eat anything, that we like, because it tastes good,
that Christmas
has nothing to do with Christ,
that speaking in
tongues is demonic,
that
homosexuality is wrong,
that the all the commandments regarding living and conduct
in the
Old Testament are relevant today.
I have mentioned
the above things, because you can easily find
that your
‘Christian friends’, will avoid you,
if you mention
any of the above.
Many believe that
that all roads,
and religions
lead to the Eternal God,
and that all the
different roads lead to the same destination, God and heaven.
All of these
points are just not true.
The word strait
below literally means narrow,
which is the
opposite of wide.
Matthew
7:13 Enter ye in at the
strait (narrow) gate:
for
wide is the gate,
and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction,
and
many there be which go in thereat:
Matthew
7:14 Because strait is the
gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that
find it.
Many times Christ
explained that His way was straight,
and that He will
make the way straight.
It is not a
mystery.
Neither is it
twisted and perverted, and a crooked road,
with hills an
valleys.
It does not
require a priest or a pastor to be your mentor,
as often they
cause huge problems,
as their goals
seem to centre on membership numbers,
and tithes and
offerings.
Of
course there will be ups and downs and obstacles,
but
the actual road is very straightforward.
We
just need to listen and obey, period.
Mark
1:3 The voice of one
crying in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the
way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
Luke
3:5 Every valley
shall be filled, and every mountain and hill
shall be brought
low; and the crooked shall be made straight,
and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
A Jehoval
Witness, a Mormon, a Roman Catholic, a Freemason,
a Hindu, a
Buddhist, ancestor worshippers, and animists,
who believe, that
non-human entities—such as animals, plants,
and inanimate
objects—possess a spiritual essence, that is a spirit or a soul,
all have nothing
at all to do with the Eternal God,
and almost every
single religion is Vatican originated, and Vatican controlled.
The list is
endless.
The reason I have
mentioned the above is this.
It is most
unlikely,
that those whom
you might believe are living a Christ like life,
will accept any
of the above points.
They will quickly
disassociate themselves from you.
The
reason is that in spite of appearances they are driven
by
a wrong spirit.
You would be very
surprised, how very little of what you believe,
these people
would accept.
The faith to which you refer, is a gift of the Eternal
God,
just like grace is.
It is the faith of Christ, dwelling in
us.
1
Corinthians 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom;
to another the
word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1
Corinthians 12:9 To another faith by
the same Spirit;
to another the
gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
Romans
12:3 For I say,
through the grace given unto me,
to every man that
is among you, not to think of himself more highly
than he ought to
think; but to think soberly,
according as God
hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans
10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God.
Obedience comes before Faith.
“I guess what I'm saying, is that people reach a point of uncertainty,
because it's to much for them to handle.”
But still live in faith.
It is an oxymoron, that is a contradiction, to say that
you are uncertain, and at the same
time, have faith.
Faith is a
huge subject.
James
1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing
wavering.
For he
that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
One aspect
of faith is this.
If Christ says something, this is the end of
the matter, period.
I might have to wait for a long time, but this is irrelevant.
Hebrews
11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,
the evidence of things not seen.
It is a
valid point to say, that the truth is so very different to what
we have
all been taught, in every area of life,
that it
can be overwhelming.
Our
Eternal God told us, that He could only tell us a little at a time,
of what
was taking place in reality, because it would be too much
for us, if
He told us too much at once.
It is the
very same for new believers.
What we
now understand,
is so very
far removed from traditional Christianity,
most would
find it very difficult to believe any of it.
The life of a
genuine believer should be completely different,
from that of an
unbeliever,
regardless of how
decent the unbeliever is.
Zacharias and his
wife were both righteous,
but they found it
hard to believe, what the archangel Gabriel told them.
It seemed utterly
impossible to him, that he and his wife were going
to have a child
in their old age
It was exactly
the same with Sarah and Abraham.
Sarah could not
believe it either.
Luke 1:19
And the angel
answering said unto him, I am Gabriel,
that stand in the
presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee,
and to shew thee
these glad tidings.
Luke 1:12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was
troubled, and fear fell upon him.
Luke 1:13
But the angel
said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard;
and thy wife
Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.
Luke 1:14
And thou shalt
have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
Luke
1:5 ¶ There was in
the days of Herod, the king of Judaea,
a certain priest
named Zacharias, of the course of Abia:
and his wife was
of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
Luke
1:6 And they were
both righteous before God,
walking in all
the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.
Luke
1:7 And they had no
child, because that Elisabeth was barren,
and they both
were now well stricken in years.
I repeat what I
said just now.
One aspect
of faith is this.
If Christ says something, this is the end of
the matter, period.
I might have to wait for a long time, but this is irrelevant.
This
is very important for all of us today.
We
can all see that something is very wrong with the whole world.
We
can be frightened by the ever increasing violence,
and
worry about what we are going to do to survive.
As
I am always saying listen, obey, and trust the Eternal God,
and
all will be well with you.
There
is no need to stock up on guns and ammunition etc.
Our
real battle is spiritual, and physical weapons will never have
any
effect, on spirit beings.
Therefore
put on the right armour.
Ephesians
6:12 For we wrestle
not against flesh and blood,
but against
principalities, against powers,
against the
rulers of the darkness of this world,
against spiritual
wickedness in high places.
Ephesians
6:13 Wherefore take
unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be
able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done
all, to stand.
Ephesians
6:14 Stand therefore,
having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the
breastplate of righteousness;
Ephesians
6:15 And your feet
shod with the preparation
of the gospel of
peace;
Ephesians
6:16 Above all,
taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Ephesians
6:17 And take the helmet of salvation,
and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians
6:18 Praying always with all prayer and
supplication
in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance
and supplication
for all saints;
Ephesians
6:19 ¶ And for me,
that utterance may be given unto me,
that I may open
my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
Pray
for all, for whom the Eternal God leads you to pray.
Your
lifestyle will say, much more than any words.
