Breaking All Chains
Setting The Captives Free
Discernment by
Peter James
Recently I have come across some books, which have
made it very clear
that the world is not what it appears to be.
I have been explaining this for quite a long time.
The purpose of this document is to help you to take
the time to carefully
think about what is going on in reality.
I run quite a substantial website, with many
documents and videos,
which are also on Youtube.
I get many emails which send me details of many
really good sites,
with videos and documents, that I should watch and
read.
It is kind of these people to send this information
to me.
How can I watch all the videos, and read all the
material that hits my inbox,
is a serious question for me.
The answer is that I cannot.
Many people keep a constant watch on the news, and
then have big
discussions putting the world to right, however, nothing ever changes.
Things only get worse.
In time the enthusiastic people suddenly become
completely frustrated
and disillusioned, with their lives. They see that
politics, businesses,
and the churches have completely failed us.
Few have any idea of what they must do, in the midst
of their confusion
and frustration.
What is going on?
Many people, like to tell me that they have their
bibles, and a brain,
and consequently they are quite capable of
understanding
what is taking place.
I do not believe that it is as easy as that by any
means.
I have mentioned this before.
A friend of mine who was quite bible literate
recently died.
He knew that we had to watch and pray.
Therefore he walked around with his transistor radio
to make sure
that he did not miss the news.
At every opportunity he watched the news on the
Tel-Live-Vision,
as many do today. In reality he was a very confused
person,
with very
little grasp of what was taking place in reality, as most are today.
We are told that the whole world is deceived.
Revelation 12:9 And the
great dragon was cast out, that old serpent,
called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world:
he was cast out into the earth, and his angels
were cast out with him.
If the whole world is deceived, it
follows that what we call the governments,
education, businesses, religions of
any complexion, entertainment,
and ‘the media’, and the internet,
will all be involved in the
deception, literally from the cradle to the grave.
If we are to believe the bible,
regardless of whom you are, or where you live,
you have been deceived.
It makes absolutely no difference how educated you
have been,
your I.Q., your success in any area of life, the
caliber of your friends
or your church. You have been deceived period.
With a false foundation from birth, much of our lives
have involved
chasing shadows. Some of us do this at a frenetic
pace,
whilst others do it in a more leisurely manner.
Any construction based on a false foundation has
ultimately
to be destroyed.
This applies to our ideas, our hopes, our goals and
our dreams .
Eventually, as they must, they will come crashing
down, if they are false,
when they are confronted by ‘Truth’.
Because it is only ‘Truth’, that can free us from the
prison of deception.
The Truth being referred to here is Christ not just
information.
John 8:32 And ye shall
know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
This is in itself a problem.
A deceived person does not know that they are deceived.
The deceived will do absolutely everything to hold on
to that which
is held dear. Understandably, no one wants to be
thought of as being
foolish by either their peers, their families or
their friends.
Truth forces us to confront
ourselves, and we would rather not do that.
If all of the sources of knowledge have been
corrupted,
as they have been, this raises several problems.
How are we going to discern truth
from error,
and change our lifestyles
and the habits of a lifetime, which have brought us
to the condition
in which we now find ourselves?
We cannot expect to have masses of information thrown
at us,
and as some reason, somehow we are going to use our
intelligence
to work out what is best for us.
The fact is that it is this very
process that got us into this mess
in the first place
The idea that we would somehow know by education and
intelligence,
what to accept and what to discard, is totally false.
As I said our education has been almost completely
false.
Simple logic shows us that this cannot possibly work,
however,
much we would like to think that it will.
Christ made it quite clear that we cannot go by sight
or hearing.
The reality is that almost everyone goes by sight and
hearing
99.99% of the times.
The result is that we get it wrong 99.99% of the
times.
Just consider, how many really happy marriages do you
know?
How many relationships, which are really unions of
tolerance,
and endurance do you know?
How many really happy, and contented people, who are
at peace
do you know?
How many people do you know who are looking forward
to the future,
when the prevailing environment is one of fear,
uncertainty and the
breakdown of society, and all of the things in which
we trusted.
The following verses are referring to Christ, who was
God in the flesh.
He could not go by sight or hearing, but somehow we
reckon that
we could do so, and we also feel that really if we
found the right words
to tell others,
They could do the same.
It is simply not true.
If that were true then the world would not arrived at
the present crisis point.
Our combined brain and mind power would have solved
all our problems
long ago. The reality is that they are just becoming
worse and worse
Isaiah 11:1¶ And there
shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse,
and a Branch shall grow out of
his roots:
Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the
spirit
of wisdom and understanding, the
spirit of counsel and might, the spirit
of knowledge and of the fear of
the LORD;
Isaiah 11:3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the
fear
of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his
eyes,
neither reprove after
the hearing of his ears:
Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and
reprove
with equity for the meek of the
earth: and he shall smite the earth with
the rod of his mouth, and with
the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Isaiah 11:5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins,
and faithfulness the girdle of
his reins.
It is very simple indeed.
Discernment requires the indwelling
of the Holy Spirit in us.
If
there is no Holy Spirit there will be no discernment.
We are
told that the Spirit of truth has to come, and then and only then,
will he
guide us into all truth.
John 16:13 Howbeit when
he, the Spirit of truth, is come,
he will guide you into all truth:
for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear,
that shall he speak:
and he will shew you things to come.
It is for this reason that it is pointless to bombard
our families with our
‘excellent’, material, which is going to make a
difference.
You might as well cuddle up to your pet dog or cat,
and try to explain your “wonderful understanding” to
them.
This verse means precisely what it
says.
Why do we find it so hard to
believe it.
John 6:44 No man can
come to me, except the Father which hath sent
me draw him: and I will raise him
up at the last day.
See: God
Calls Whom He Chooses.
We can also see the pointlessness
of trying to force our beliefs on others.
First we cannot give meat to
babies, that is what the apostle Paul explained.
1 Corinthians 3:2 I have fed
you with milk, and not with meat:
for hitherto ye were not able to
bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
Secondly, in most cases what we
have reasoned will be a blessing,
will not only fall on deaf ears.
Our actions can easily turn people
against the Eternal God, even violently.
In our Rhema several years ago we
were clearly told that we could only
be told the truth about the world
situation little by little, as it would be too
much for us. This has been proved
very much to be the case,
as the website documents show.
This is a biblical principle.
John 16:12 I have yet
many things to say unto you,
but ye cannot bear
them now.
Isaiah 28:10 For precept must
be upon precept,
precept upon precept;
line upon line, line
upon line;
here a little, and
there a little:
Consider what a disaster it would be, if the
Eternal God listened
to a sincere prayer of yours, for your family
to be called at this time
and join you in whatsoever fellowship you might
be.
Then sometime later you find out that you are
in serious error,
and should not be in that fellowship in the
first place. In the meantime
your family has joined you, and are very happy with
their ‘saved condition’,
but you now know that you have been greatly
deceived, and so have
your family. What do you do then.
What I do is a very serious business, and I fully realise
the tremendous
responsibility. Be very careful indeed, as it is very easy
to find that instead
of advancing the kingdom, you are actively working against
it.
Be very clear in your mind that you are thinking and doing
what the Eternal
God wants, and not simply doing what you want to do.
This is precisely what the sons of Sceva
did. Acts 19:14
They did their own will, and got a severe beating from evil
spirits that
they tried to cast out.
This is an extreme case, but it is possible that
we can get a rude and even painful awakening, to get us
back on track,
and doing the will of the Eternal God and not our own will.
Just this week twice I heard on radio 2 that people
are basically ‘good’.
I said when you start from a wrong foundation, you will
get into trouble.
If this is correct, then the bible is wrong, and we
can throw it out
of the window. This is what it says about our hearts.
In this verse once again we have a word added in
italics to clarify
the meaning.
It really reduces the power of the verse.
It should say:
The heart is deceitful above all.
Then we are told that it is
desperately wicked.
It then closes with a very pertinent question.
Who can know it?
This implies that the normal carnal mind which is
completely untrustworthy,
and exceedingly wicked.
It cannot be known, understood, or discerned,
however,
people expect to discern people and events.
As far as the bible is concerned we can see the
impossibility
of trying to discern with just our human minds.
Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is
deceitful above all things,
and desperately wicked:
who can know it?
You can easily see the problem with the
question posed,
Who can know it?
Answer: no one.
Here we see a classic application of the difficulty of
discernment.
Favour is deceitful and beauty is vain.
When we go by appearances, graciousness and beauty will
lead you right
up the garden path. The handsome hunk, and little Miss
Pretty,
have been the ruin of many.
However, if the man or the woman feared the Lord, instead
of superficial
beauty, a right spirit, with inner beauty, is what should
be sought
and that will last forever.
Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall
be praised.
Another problem that has to be coped with is
the fact that there are very
few
people, who have sound minds.
This
verse tells us a great deal.
2 Timothy 1:7 For
God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
It tells us that there is such a thing as a spirit of fear.
If your life is one that is governed by fear of one sort or
another,
it will be supremely difficult
to discern correctly.
Your judgment will be coloured by fear.
This fear is of our adversary.
We are told what the counter to the spirit of fear is.
It is the spirit of power,
It is the spirit of love,
and very importantly,
It is a sound mind.
The over riding factor of these
three things is that they are all gifts
of the Eternal God.
It states ‘For God has given us,
the spirit of power
the spirit of love,
a sound mind.
This means that there is no other source in the whole of
creation.
If the Eternal God does not give us these attributes, by
His Spirit.
How can we discern,
if we do not have a sound mind?
How can we discern, if we do not operate by the genuine spirit of love,
we are not swayed by appearance and
what we hear?
How can we discern, if we are not imbued which the spirit of power,
which will enable us to make wise
decisions, even if pain and difficulties
are involved.
If we are totally honest we will have to admit,
that many of the people
around us simply do not have sound minds. Look
at our leaders of all
types, do their deeds strike you as being
sensible, logical, and to benefit
the people, who put them in power?
The people with whom we work, and live most
times display characteristics
that hardly can be called sound.
A sound mind is a very rare and precious thing.
We can now begin to see
how absurd it is for us to expect others
to
have wisdom and discernment,
when they have so very much working against
them,
as I have clearly shown.
Precisely what do I mean when I
speak about discernment?
I
mean to separate the precious from the vile, and having distinguished
the
good from the bad, to hold on to that which is precious and discard
that
which is vile.
It
is not sufficient to make the separation, and then for one to still holds
on to
the vile.
There
would be no point in making the separation in the first place.
Once we have made the distinction, and
recognised that we have a choice,
it is then imperative that we choose the
precious.
Jeremiah 15:19 Therefore
thus saith the LORD, If thou return,
then will I bring thee again, and thou shalt
stand before me:
and if thou take forth the precious from the vile,
thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return
unto thee;
but return not thou unto them.
Note this can be
taken to be referring to people,
because, it
states that we must not go back to those from whom
we have been
separated, but, if they want to come to us,
say for
instruction this is acceptable.
It is easy to
illustrate how difficult it is to discern the true from the false.
Some are going to
be killed because of the messed up minds
of their persecutors.
If they were able
to discern they would do no such thing.
John
16:2
They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh,
that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
That
discernment is a Holy Spirit activity is confirmed yet again.
How much plainer can it be stated?
John 14:26 But the
Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things
to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said
unto you.
In the parable of
the sower, we see different types of people,
and how they
responded to the truth.
We can see that
several did not have the discernment to accurately
distinguish between
the precious from the vile, and to hold on just
to the precious. It
has been my experience over many years that the first
flush of
excitement, when confronted by truth, in the vast majority of cases,
quickly vanishes.
This is precisely
what the following verses state.
Out of six verses
4 are telling us that when confronted by truth,
the recipients
failed to grasp how precious was the gift that they
had received, and
they soon lost it in one of several ways.
Just one verse
deals with those who saw that the truth was precious.
Matthew 13:3
And he spake
many things unto them in parables, saying,
Behold, a sower
went forth to sow;
Matthew 13:4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by
the way side,
and
the fowls came and devoured them up:
Matthew 13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had
not much
earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because
they had no deepness
of
earth:
Matthew 13:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched;
and
because they had no root, they withered away.
Matthew 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns
sprung up,
and choked them:
Matthew 13:8 But other
fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit,
some an hundredfold, some
sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Matthew 13:9 Who hath ears
to hear, let him hear.
If we
discerned how very precious the truth is, this is what we would do.
Matthew 13:45 Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man,
seeking goodly pearls:
Matthew 13:46 Who,
when he had found one pearl
of great price,
went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
It is also worth
pointing out that having found the pearl of great price,
it meant so much
to the finder, that he sold all that he had in order to buy it.
It also does not
tell us that he then went looking here there and
everywhere, for more ‘goodly pearls’. The
merchant man was looking
for ‘goodly
pearls’, but when he found a superior specimen pearl,
he stopped
searching, and purchased it.
Having
sold all that he had, he would have nothing left with
which to
buy any more pearls any way.
Somehow many of us keep endlessly and fruitlessly searching in vain,
for
something that most have already found.
There are many
who are forever studying and seeking more knowledge
of the truth.
What happens in
practice is that because they have cast aside that
which they found,
they return from whence they came and end up even
more confused
than before.
2 Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge
of the truth.
As I said if
truth could come by study, with all our intellectuals and
universities, the
world would be overflowing with, peace, joy,
harmony and even
prosperity.
So many people
find that which they think is precious, but very quickly,
the fowls of the
air came, and note the word ‘devoured’,
them
Matthew 13:4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by
the way side,
and the fowls came and devoured them up:
When you read
fowls of the air do not think of pretty little sparrows,
robins and the
like.
Luke 8:12 Those by the
way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil,
and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe
and be saved.
What the son of Man had sown would lead to
salvation, but Satan,
who is
represented by fowls, came and snatched the words of life from them.
If they had discerned the real value of what
they had been given,
they would have been very careful with what
they had,
and
would have guarded it diligently and carefully, so as not to lose it.
Truth leading to salvation tends to be given
by genuine servants
of the
Eternal God.
Many do not discern that the person, who
has been teaching truth
is a
genuine part of the body of Christ.
They
therefore treat the servant casually, and as if they were valueless.
As with
all things, all actions have consequences.
See the video: Why
Many Are Weak, Sickly And Sleep
The
Document
The
above video/document explains that because we do not discern
the
body of Christ, many are weak, sickly and die.
You
can see that discernment is not only important, but it is critical
to our well being.
In these critical last days discernment is going to be
critical,
if we are going to survive.
We have
to be living on an entirely different dimension.
Christ told us that the Father dwelt in Him, and that the words,
and
deeds which he did,
were not His own, but were the words and deeds of the
Father.
We can see clear applications of the discernment of
the Holy Spirit.
Here are just two of many.
Matthew 9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said,
Wherefore think ye evil in your
hearts?
Luke 11:17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them,
Every kingdom divided against
itself is brought to desolation;
and a house divided
against a house falleth.
We can see what a complicated
obstacle course that we have to navigate
through in these troubled times.
It is easy to see that our human reasoning
cannot get us through
this jungle of confusion.
2 Timothy 3:1 ¶ This know
also, that in the last days perilous times
shall come.
2
Timothy 3:2
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous,
boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to
parents, unthankful, unholy,
2 Timothy 3:3 Without
natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers,
incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that
are good,
2 Timothy 3:4
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more
than
lovers of God;
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form
of godliness, but denying the power thereof:
from such turn away.
2
Timothy 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into
houses,
and lead captive silly women
laden with sins, led away with
divers lusts,
2 Timothy 3:7 Ever
learning, and never able to come to the knowledge
of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood
Moses,
so do these also resist the truth:
men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the
faith.
2 Timothy 3:9 But they
shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be
manifest unto all men,
as theirs also was.
Remember that if someone is confused and
their minds have not been
opened
by the Eternal God, and you bombard them with information,
they
just become even more confused to the point of despair.
Information overload was forecast in the bible.
Daniel 12:4 But thou, O
Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book,
even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro,
and knowledge shall be increased.
Although our minds, are marvelous miracles, with immense
capacity,
they are finite.
That means that there is an actual limit to
how much information
can be
retained.
This
differs between individuals.
Often something has to be erased or at least put into an archive from
which
it is almost impossible to retrieve.
Therefore we were told:
John 14:26 But the
Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name,
he
shall teach you all things, and bring
all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
It
is also possible that the seed of error which has been sown, will take root,
and snuff out the
truth that one once had.
Matthew 13:5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had
not much earth:
and forthwith they sprung up, because they
had no deepness of earth:
Matthew 13:6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched;
and because they had no root, they withered
away.
Matthew 13:7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns
sprung up,
and choked them:
The solution is to pray for discernment in
order to avoid ‘knowledge’,
which
can just increase vanity, whilst it subtly destroys the truth.
The above verses clearly show that it can
happen in a variety of ways.
The knowledge that is very important to us
today, is the truth which
changes our lives, and brings it into line
with what the Eternal God requires.

Be Humble Repent Listen To The Eternal God Obey Him
This is
very easy to say, but I assure you that it is physically impossible,
without the empowerment of the Eternal God.
Just going up to some altar call, running to
some church, or isolating
yourself in the hope that somehow it will all
go away, will not do it.
