Are You Born Again ? By Peter James

Recently I asked the question are you a born again Christian?

As I expected most said that they were, with some making use of the

alternative words in the margin of the A.V., ‘born from above’.

Several documents on the website express the same sentiments

that I received.

This was not a trick question to pit one intellect against another.

It was rather that this point, and the ramifications had been made clear

to me. I also wanted to see what others thought.

One problem for us all is that we are being led into all truth.

It is my experience and certainly one of the difficulties faced in what I do.

John 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,

 he will guide you into all truth:  for he shall not speak of himself;

but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:

and he will shew you things to come.

As I say salvation is a process.

Let us look first of what happens at baptism.

Ezekiel 36:22 tells us that the whole nation of Israel is being addressed.

Ezekiel 36:22  Therefore say unto the house of Israel,

Thus saith the Lord GOD;  I do not this for your sakes,

O house of Israel, but for mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned

among the heathen, whither ye went.

Verse 25  tells us that we are unclean and we will be cleansed by having

water sprinkled on us.

This is not telling us that baptism is by sprinkling.

The New Testament makes it clear that baptism is by immersion.

Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you,

and ye shall be clean:

from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.

When we are cleansed, that is have repented and accepted Jesus Christ

as our personal Saviour, we are told in verse 26

1) that we will be given a heart of flesh to replace our rock hard hearts.

2) our fallen human spirit will be replaced by a new spirit.

3) the result of this is that we will be able to receive the Holy Spirit

    in this new spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26  A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will

I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh,

and I will give you an heart of flesh.

4) we will then be given the Holy Sprit to actually dwell within us.

5) we will then, and only then be able to keep,

observe and do all the Laws and commandments of the Eternal God.

Ezekiel 36:27  And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk

in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

6) we will then be the people of God.

Ezekiel 36:28  And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers;

and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.

7) we will saved from all our uncleaness.

Ezekiel 36:29  I will also save you from all your uncleannesses:

and I will call for the corn, and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you.

All of this activity takes place in the present human body of a genuine

believer. It is not an instant change from ignorance to all knowledge

in the blink of an eye.

We were clearly told several years ago that we could not cope with having

all Truth dumped on us at once.

It would be too much for us.

This is an absolute fact.

Understanding the true horror of the world in which we live can only take

place with the strengthening of the Holy Spirit.

 Isaiah 28:10  For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept;

line upon line,  line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

We still have the very same physical body, with all its shortcomings

that we have always had.

It is the very same you, that you see when you look in the mirror, however,

your thoughts and deeds are undergoing major changes. The reason for

the change is that we have been given the earnest of the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:21  Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ,

and hath anointed us, is God;

2 Corinthians 1:22  Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest

of the Spirit in our hearts.

Our rebellious sinful nature is being changed little by little.

Though you look the same, onlookers will notice that there is something

very different about you.

Let us consider the scripture which is used to say that we are born again.

John 3:2  The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi,

we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these

miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Jesus told Nicodemus that He had to be born from above (born again),

in order to see the kingdom of God. We tend to ignore the last part of the

verse, which states,

that in order to see the kingdom of God, the prerequisite is that one had

to be born again.

I do not know anyone, including myself, who has seen the kingdom

of God. Maybe someone has, but certainly I have not.

Of course I experience the peace of God, but that is not seeing the

kingdom of God.

John 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

This set a monumental problem for Nicodemus.

I am unable to find the document where I explained that there were seven

ways in which a Jew considered themselves to be born again.

If I remember correctly one was at circumcision, at Bar-Mitzvah, at

marriage, becoming a Rabbi etc.

Nicodemus had used up all his allotment to be ‘born again’.

Therefore the only thing that he could think of was, well I have to be able

to restart the process, by being physically born again, but then he knew the

absurdity of what he was saying.

John 3:4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is

old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

Then the situation becomes even more difficult for Nicodemus, who was a

Pharisee, and would have been a meticulous law keeper.

He was told that the kingdom of God was something that we had to

enter into, but entering it had two requirements.

1) one had to be born of water.

2) one had to be born of the spirit.

This was not referring to the normal birth of a human being in the ‘waters’

of the mother.

This occurs to all human beings.

This has to be referring to water baptism.

However was he going to do that, when he already thought that he was

doing all that he could do.

John 3:5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be

born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Christ then clearly defined the difference between the flesh and the spirit.

He stated that flesh is flesh and it will always be flesh.

He stated that spirit is spirit and it will always be spirit.

John 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of

the Spirit is spirit.

Nicodemus was incredulous at what he had been told, therefore Christ

said do not marvel at what I have said, that is how it is.

John 3:7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Christ then explains the what a spirit born person can do.

John 3:8  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound

thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is

every one that is born of the Spirit.

John 3:9  Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things

be?

John 3:10  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel,

and knowest not these things?

This is a monumental problem for those who claim to be born again.

Not a single person can operate like the wind, moving unseen from place

to place, but that is precisely what Christ said that anyone who is born of

the spirit would be able to do.

There is a second and even greater problem.

Anyone who is born from above (born again), born of the Spirit,

CANNOT SIN.

  1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not;

but he that is begotten  of God keepeth himself, and that wicked

 one toucheth him not.

Have you noticed that there are certain Christians, many of the

Pentecostal persuasion, with whom you are quite unable to have any

meaningful conversation about the Truth?

One reason can be that they feel that as they are born again, and the

scripture says that whosoever is born of God sinneth not, they are not

sinning.

Indeed they cannot sin as the scripture says so.

In fact the reality is that they are blinded in their outright rebellion against

the laws of the Most High God.

They claim that we are in ignorance, because the law is ‘done away with’,

and now that they are born again, they are without sin.

Unless the Eternal God opens their minds to their gross error, and removes

their blindness you will never break through to these unfortunate people.

Yes something happens to a genuine believer who is converted, baptised

and receives the Holy Spirit, but he certainly is not being born again.

The first place that we see the process of being born again is the birth of

the Manchild, in Revelation chapter 12.

We see the woman, that is the church, is carrying the Manchild, and at

these end times, she is in great pain waiting to give birth to her child.

Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven;

a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her

head a crown of twelve stars:

Revelation 12:2  And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and

pained to be delivered.

We then see that the woman gives birth to the child which she had been

carrying.

These genuine believers, the stronger part of the woman, had already

been born of water, now they were being born of the Spirit.

Revelation 12:5  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all

nations with a rod of iron: . . .

This new born manchild immediately acts in a very different manner,

to any one who is just born of water.

The man child is caught up to the throne of God.

 Revelation 12:5  . . . . . .

and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

These are not a set of human beings.

These new creatures are now doing something that no human being can

do. They are now literally in the presence of God and His throne.

Christ said no man had ascended up to heaven.

John 3:13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came   down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Not even David a man after God’s own heart had ascended into heaven.

If he did not manage to do that we can be sure that we would also be

unable to do that.

Acts 2:34  For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith

himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

Additionally no man has seen God at any time.

John 1:18  No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son,

which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

In spite of these verses the Manchild is caught up to the throne.

The reason for this is because those comprising the Manchild had been born from above,

(born again).

This process took place in the twinkling of an eye.

All genuine believers can truly claim to be justified and sanctified.

1 Corinthians 6:11  And such were some of you: but ye are washed,

 but ye are sanctified,

but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our     God.

Our sins have been forgiven and we have been set apart for holy use, that  is sanctified.

This is what we should be doing to make our calling and election sure.

2 Peter 1:2  Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the

knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

2 Peter 1:3  According as his divine power hath given unto us all things

that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath

called us to glory and virtue:

2 Peter 1:4  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious

promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,

having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue;

and to virtue knowledge;

2 Peter 1:6  And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience;

and to patience godliness;

2 Peter 1:7  And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness

charity.

2 Peter 1:8  For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that

ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our

Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:9  But he that lacketh these things is blind,

and cannot see afar off,

and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

2 Peter 1:10  Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your

calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

2 Peter 1:11  For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly

into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

As you have seen, genuine believers are justified and sanctified, now,

but being born again is a glorious future that still awaits.

What are you going to do about it before it is too late?

See The Video:  Obedience Is The Only Way Of Escape

Be Humble    Repent   Listen To The Eternal God   Obey Him

This is very easy to say, but I assure you that it is physically impossible,

without the empowerment of the Eternal God.

Just going up to some altar call, running to some church, or isolating

yourself in the hope that somehow it will all go away, will not do it.
