The Woman, The Man Child, The Remnant

                                                       Updated 2011

Today there is much confusion regarding Revelation Chapter 12.

One of the subjects which this chapter addresses is the future

of the True Church, the Body of Christ.

There are three distinct groups mentioned, and they are all

  commandment keepers.

Most bible scholars acknowledge that in the bible a ‘woman’ is used

  to represent a church.

This can be a true or a false church.

  1) There is the first group, the whole body of Christ, The woman,

which is the Church which is composed of genuine,

  but imperfect Spirit filled,

Spirit led believers scattered all over the earth in all sorts of places.

The totality of the True Church, is ‘The Woman’.

It is not any specific denomination, although many would like us

to believe that it is their church, even when they keep moving

    to different churches.

We can see the woman mentioned in Revelation 12 in the following

    verses.

    Revelation 12:1  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven;

a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet,

and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

Revelation 12:2  And she being with child cried, travailing in birth,

    and pained to be delivered.

Revelation 12:4  ….  and the dragon stood before the woman

which was ready to be delivered,

for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Revelation 12:6  And the woman fled into the wilderness,

where she hath a place prepared of God,

that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred

  and threescore days.

Revelation 12:13  And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto

the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

Revelation 12:14  And to the woman were given two wings of a great

eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place,

where she is nourished for a time,

and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Revelation 12:15  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water

as a flood after the woman,

that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Revelation 12:16  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth

opened her mouth,   and swallowed up the flood which the dragon

  cast out of his mouth.

Revelation 12:17  And the dragon was wroth with the woman,

  2) There is a second group, The Man Child.

Out of the large body of believers, the woman, a man child,

who is the stronger part of the woman is born.

Revelation 12:4 . . . and the dragon stood before the woman which was

ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

Revelation 12:5  And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all

nations with a rod of iron:

and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Revelation 12:13  And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto

the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

This Man Child is the same as the warrior bride of Christ.

It is not just that the woman gives birth to a child, but we are specifically

told that she gave birth to a man child. Men are normally deemed

  to be stronger than women.

When Christ returns to set up His kingdom on the earth,

  He returns with an army.

As a general rule armies in the bible were made up of male warriors.

This verse shows the aspect of the warrior,

Revelation 19:14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him

upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

These are the overcomers who had made themselves ready,

and are without spot or blemish.

They had allowed the Eternal God to do His work in them.

He cut and polished the rough precious stones, and made them

into the beautiful finished articles, which is His heart’s desire.

Here we see the aspect of the bride.

Revelation 19:7  Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him:

for the marriage of the Lamb is come,

and his wife hath made herself ready.

Revelation 19:8  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in

fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness

of saints.

Some teach that the man child is Christ.

In fact the King James Schofield Study bible heads this section

  of the chapter,

  The Child: Christ.

The fact is that the church did not bring forth Christ.

  It is utterly impossible.

The truth is the very opposite,

  Christ brought forth the church.

It is also worth noting, that today, there are spurious stories when

several people claim to be Christ.

This is utterly ridiculous and scripture refutes this lie.

Matthew 24:23  Then if any man shall say unto you,

Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

Matthew 24:24  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets,

and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that,

if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Matthew 24:25  Behold, I have told you before.

Matthew 24:26  Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold,

  he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers;

  believe it not.

Matthew 24:27  For as the lightning cometh out of the east,

  and shineth even unto the west;

so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The church was born on the Feast of Pentecost after Jesus Christ

had ascended, and sent the Holy Spirit on the assembled disciples,

just as Christ’s last words to His disciples before He ascended

  had declared would happen.

So rather than the Church bringing forth Christ,

the exact opposite is the case,

  Christ brought forth the Church.

Acts 2:1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come,

they were all with one accord in one place.

Acts 2:2  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as

  of a rushing mighty wind,

and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

Acts 2:3  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire,

and it sat upon each of them.

Acts 2:4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost,  and began

to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This empowerment by the Holy Spirit on the group of disciples,

  who were of one accord,

was the birth of the New Testament Church.

Many believe that because of two biblical statements,

that the man child has to be the Christ.

The first   is that: ‘a man child who was to rule all nations,

  with a rod of iron’,

The second is that: ‘her child was caught up to the throne’.

The first reason is the misapplication of

Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword,

that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them

with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness

  and wrath of Almighty God.

In this verse ‘his’ and ‘he’ refer to Christ,

but this is not the only verse which speaks about ruling with a rod of iron.

There is an additional scripture which is often overlooked,

which also refers to ruling with a rod of iron.

It is clear that it does not refer to Christ.

Revelation 2:26  And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works

unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

  Revelation 2:27  And he shall rule them with a rod of iron;

as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers:

even as I received of my Father.

It is clear that in these verses, ‘he’ and ‘him  refers

to the overcoming church, as this is part of the Seven letters

to the churches. It is the overcoming church, who is going to rule

with a rod of iron, of course under the supreme King of kings.

The conclusion is that Christ rules with a rod of iron,

and so does His Church, which is His body.

We must not forget that the bride of Christ will sit with Him on His throne.

Revelation 3:21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me

in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my

  Father in his throne.

Jesus Christ, who was the son of Mary had never been caught up

  to the throne of God.

Christ ascended into heaven by a peaceful resurrection,

It was according to the report a peaceful event.

Acts 1:9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld,

he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

Acts 1:10  And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven

  as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Acts 1:11  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up

  into heaven?

this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,

shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

He was not snatched away like the dramatic account of Elijah,

  in the chariot of fire.

2 Kings 2:11  And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked,

that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire,

and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind

  into heaven.

  3) There is the Third group, The Remnant.

This is a second group which is also part of the woman.

Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman,

and went to make war with the remnant of her seed,

which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony

  of Jesus Christ

We can see here that the remnant is not the woman,

which we explained as the first group,

but like the man child, who was the second group mentioned,

they are both a part of the woman.

Probably because of some shortcomings, they were not considered

  to be the manchild.

We can get some idea of the possible problems which made that part

of the woman become the remnant.

Much more is required than keeping the commandments.

Here are some examples of short comings.

Revelation 2:4  Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee,

because thou hast left thy first love.

Revelation 2:5  Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen,

and repent, and do the first works;

Revelation 3:1  …..I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou

livest, and art dead.

Revelation 3:2  Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain,

that are ready to die:

for I have not found thy works perfect before God.

Revelation 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm,

and neither cold nor hot,

I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Revelation 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with

goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art

wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Although it certainly appears that this third group goes through the

Tribulation, because they were not ready,

they were still commandment keepers.

The woman and the man child also had to be commandment keepers,

otherwise they would not have fitted into any of the three categories.

It is also worth noting that any instruction out of the mouth of the Eternal

can be considered a command, a law,

because whatever He tells us to do, or not to do must be done.

To disobey is rebellion.

This is one of the hardest things for us human beings to understand.

When we are given a clear command we cannot really ask

for additional signs.

We have to accept that to obey is better than sacrifice.

1 Samuel 15:22  And Samuel said,

Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,

as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold,

to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken (pay attention)

than the fat of rams.

Sadly, I believe that it is because of disobedience,

that a part of the church qualifies

to go through the Great Tribulation.

Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto

ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet

the bridegroom.

Matthew 25:2  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

Matthew 25:3  They that were foolish took their lamps,

and took no oil with them:

Matthew 25:4  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

Matthew 25:5  While the bridegroom tarried,

they all slumbered and slept.

Matthew 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold,

the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Matthew 25:7  Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

Matthew 25:8  And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil;

for our lamps are gone out.

Matthew 25:9  But the wise answered, saying, Not so;

lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them

that sell, and buy for yourselves.

Matthew 25:10  And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came;

and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage:

and the door was shut.

Matthew 25:11  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord,

Lord, open to us.

Matthew 25:12  But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you,

I know you not.

I believe that the Remnant is equivalent to the five foolish virgins.

All ten were virgins.

All ten slept.

I do not agree that the foolish virgins are lost at all.

They did miss out on attending the marriage feast.

I can go further.

I believe that they will be weeping and gnashing their teeth,

because they lost out on a once in Eternity opportunity.

We are told that they are foolish, not wicked.

They most likely had other priorities, as many do today.

Matthew 22:8  Then saith he to his servants,

The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

It is similar to those invited to the great supper.

Luke 14:16  Then said he unto him, A certain man made

a great supper, and bade many:

Luke 14:17  And sent his servant at supper time to say

to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.

Luke 14:18  And they all with one consent began

to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece

of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

Luke 14:19  And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen,

and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

Luke 14:20  And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore

I cannot come.

The 5 foolish virgins had to go and buy oil for their lamps instead

of attending the wedding feast.

If they were obedient like the wise virgins they would have paid

attention, obeyed, and had oil in their lamps when it mattered.

It is my belief that the Remnant is also referred to in Matthew 25.

There we see Christ explaining something which was going

to happen at his return.

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory,

and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne

of his glory:

Matthew 25:32  And before him shall be gathered all nations:

and he shall separate them one from another,

as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

Matthew 25:33  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand,

but the goats on the left.

Matthew 25:34  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,

Come, ye blessed of my Father,

inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Matthew 25:35  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat:

I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

Matthew 25:36  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick,

and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Matthew 25:37  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord,

when saw we thee an hungred,

and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

Matthew 25:38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in?

or naked, and clothed thee?

Matthew 25:39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison,

and came unto thee?

Matthew 25:40  And the King shall answer and say unto them,

Verily I say unto you,

Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,

ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 25:41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,

Depart from me,

ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:42  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat:

I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

Matthew 25:43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked,

and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Matthew 25:44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord,

when saw we thee an hungred,

or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison,

and did not minister unto thee?

Matthew 25:45  Then shall he answer them, saying,

Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least

of these, ye did it not to me.

Matthew 25:46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:

but the righteous into life eternal.

Some believe that this refers to any ‘good works’ that we do to any

other people.

This is incorrect.

There is a difference between our neighbour and our brother.

It is true that we have to love our neighbour.

Matthew 22:39  And the second is like unto it,

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

But that does not make him my brother.

See: Brothers And Neighbours

Although I might truly love my neighbour, there is absolutely nothing

in the whole creation, that can make him my blood relative.

Similarly unless we have been born anew and become a new creature,

we cannot be brothers of Christ.

This New creation is not an intellectual concept but a reality

in the experience of a converted Son of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ,

he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold,

all things are become new.

The Remnant are the ones who were being helped by others,

who did not really know that they were children of God,

but because they served the Eternal,

they were regarded and rewarded by the Eternal God,

 as they were considered ‘Righteous’.

They were actually carrying out the three fold Everlasting gospel,

which is going to be preached at the end time.

The gospel is:

Fear God

Give glory to him

worship him

This differs from the gospel of salvation, the gospel of grace,

and the other gospels, but it has always been the case

that we should do these things.

Revelation 14:6  And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven,

having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell

on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue,

and people,

Revelation 14:7  Saying with a loud voice,

Fear God, and

give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and

worship him that made heaven,

and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

This is very sobering indeed.

The mass of Christianity does not fall into any of these three categories

They fall into a very different category because at this time they do not

keep all of the Eternal’s commandments, and His instructions which,

He gives us today.

To one degree or another they are in rebellion.

Sadly they are referred to as Babylon, which has committed fornication,

with political Babylon, which is called the great whore.

Revelation 17:1  And there came one of the seven angels which

had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither;

I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon

many waters:

Revelation 17:2  With whom the kings of the earth have committed

fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk

with the wine of her fornication.

The protesting daughters who have come out of the great whore are

also referred to as her harlot daughters.

Revelation 17:5  And upon her forehead was a name written,

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,

THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

It greatly distresses me that most refuse to accept the command,

Revelation 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,

Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,

and that ye receive not of her plagues.

We see that the Eternal states that His church is in Babylon.

They are caught up in great religious confusion and deception.

None the less He calls them ‘My people’.

He then commands them to come out of Babylon.

Unfortunately ‘His People’ have been deceived and seduced.

As they are comfortable in their complacency,

they cannot see through the deception and seduction.

These are the tools which are used to keep them in bondage.

We also see that the seduction is linked to teaching

Revelation 2:20  Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee,

because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself

a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication,

and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.

Revelation 12:9  And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent,

called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world:

he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

There are absolutely no exceptions.

It includes you and me.

John 16:13  Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,

He will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself;

but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew

you things to come.

It is clear that we have to be guided into all Truth.

It is a process.

This requires that we are shown our error.

We then have to humble ourselves acknowledge our deception and

start walking on the newly revealed straight and narrow.

This is a very hard pill to swallow as those needing to take the medicine

have made great sacrifices, believing for many years that their time

and the many thousands

of pounds they have given in tithes and offerings were carrying

out ‘God’s will’.

I can fully appreciate the trauma and turmoil that this revelation produces.

I have been there, therefore I know.

However, eventually, but sadly, having gone through the tribulation

most will become overcomers.

It is important to remember as we have said that all three of the above

groups were keepers of the commandments of God.

This included even ‘The Remnant’ which did not make it to the

wilderness with ‘The Woman’.

From this we can see that while we can all be arguing about whether

we should or should not

be keeping certain commandments, to be doing that is certainly

not enough.

If it was enough ‘The Remnant’ would at least be with ‘The Woman’,

but alas they were not.

A really pertinent question is this.

Where does that leave those who do not keep all the commandments?

Some have taught and others still teach that our goal is to be part of

‘The Woman’ who is taken to the wilderness.

As we have seen this is not correct.

The worst option is to be ‘The Remnant’.

The ultimate and best option by far is to be part of ‘The Man child’,

who will be caught up to God and His throne.

There certainly can be no better place to be.

Let us all humble ourselves and earnestly desire to become part

of ‘The Man child’.
