A Message From Peter James
MIRACLES – THE CHALLENGE
I
have been challenged to perform some miracles in order to prove my authenticity
in
what I write on the Website.
The
approach has been,
“you
are a magician perform some trick and then we will believe you”.
I
have been challenged to raise the dead or read minds.
Those
are the conditions that have to be met to prove that I am a genuine servant
of
the Eternal.
First
of all I need to state categorically that I make absolutely no claims
for
myself whatsoever regarding any office in the body of Christ.
I do
not claim to be any of the following,
1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set
some in the church,
first
apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles,
then
gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
The
Eternal God has referred to me several times as ‘My servant’.
That
is all.
Often
this is prefaced by a qualifying adjective.
I do
not have to prove anything to anyone.
Miracles
only prove one thing, and that is that miracles happen.
Miracles
do not prove anything else.
Miracles
are not proof of authenticity that the person is a genuine follower of Christ.
They
prove no such thing.
It
might be thought that I am saying this because I am afraid to demonstrate
this
power, because I cannot.
I can
categorically state that I cannot perform any miracle whatsoever.
I can
go further and add that I will never ever be able to do that.
However,
this does not mean that the Eternal has not performed miracles for me,
nor
that He has not used me to perform miracles.
He
has.
If I
mention miracles the purpose is to praise the Eternal and to encourage others.
The Eternal is not a respecter of people, and what He has done for me,
he
can do for anyone else.
I
have no monopoly of special treatment or status.
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened
his mouth, and said,
Of a
truth I perceive that God is no respecter of
persons:
What He
will do for me, He will do for anyone else who is obedient.
It is
not a matter of, see I am better than anyone else, far from it.
This
is the whole focus of what I do.
I
advise everyone to have a direct personal
relationship with the Eternal God,
not
to me or anyone else.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one
God,
and
one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
I
point out that everyone is individually
accountable for his own live.
There
are many scriptures which confirm this.
Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls
are mine; as the soul of the father,
so
also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that
sinneth, it shall die.
Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.
The
son shall not bear the iniquity of the father,
neither
shall the father bear the iniquity of the son:
the
righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him,
and
the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
We
have to have a sincere love and concern for others even to our own hurt.
John 15:12 This is my commandment,
That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
John 15:13 Greater love hath
no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
There
must be absolutely
no control,
no manipulation,
no hidden agenda,
no ego,
no self elevation,
no hate,
no vengeance,
Christ
was challenged to give a sign by performing a miracle and He bluntly refused.
In
His case that was a truly absurd demand, as He had been performing miracles
all
the time.
Matthew 12:38 Then certain of
the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying,
Master,
we would see a sign from thee.
Matthew 12:39 But he answered
and said unto them,
An
evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign;
and
there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights
in the whale’s belly;
so
shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
He
gave this sign by being in the grave for three days and three nights and ever
since
countless millions have been arguing about it.
We
play all sorts of gymnastics to get around the clear statement.
Yet
this was the only sign that Christ gave to prove that He was the Messiah.
That amazing
miracle did not have the effect we would humanly expect.
We
would expect vast multitudes to be converted.
That
is not what happened at all.
In
the situations with which I have been personally involved including healing
from
terminal illness, there have been very few, if any, who have turned to the
Eternal
in a
more wholehearted way after the intervention of the Eternal God.
In
fact, in my experience, miracles to remove problems which are there for the
refinement
of
the person can actually hinder their spiritual progress.
We
therefore find, as often happens, our ‘good works’ actually are not working
for,
but
rather against, the Eternal.
Even
worse they can actually be works of rebellion.
As
most acknowledge we are in the end times.
Miracles
are going to be going on all around the place.
We
can expect that to greatly increase.
The
sad and bad news is that these very miracles will be used to deceive
even
the very elect if it were possible.
Matthew 24:24 For there shall
arise false Christs, and false prophets,
and
shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that,
if it
were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
As I
said earlier, miracles only show that miracles
happen.
We
are told about two identical miracles.
One
is carried out by the ‘two witnesses’ and the other
by
the beast out of the earth.
The
first is by the two witnesses.
Revelation 11:5 And if any man
will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth,
and
devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner
be killed.
The
second is by the beast power.
Revelation 13:13 And he doeth great
wonders,
so
that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by
the means of those miracles
which
he had power to do in the sight of the beast;
saying
to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast,
which
had the wound by a sword, and did live.
15 And he had power to give life unto the
image of the beast,
that
the image of the beast should both speak,
and
cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be
killed.
How
are we going to determine which is of God and which is of Satan?
A
similar thing took place at the time of the Exodus when Moses confronted
Pharaoh’s
magicians.
The
first plagues which were inflicted on the Egyptians were duplicated by
Pharaoh’s
magicians.
Aaron’s
rod became a serpent as the eternal said would happen.
The magicians did the same
thing.
Exodus 7:10 And Moses and
Aaron went in unto Pharaoh,
and
they did so as the LORD had commanded:
and
Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh,
and
before his servants, and it became a serpent.
11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers:
now
the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
Aaron
and Moses turned the water into blood as commanded by the Eternal.
The magicians did the same thing.
Exodus 7:19 And the LORD spake
unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Take thy rod,
and
stretch out thine hand upon the waters of Egypt, upon their streams,
upon
their rivers, and upon their ponds, and upon all their pools of water,
that
they may become blood; and that there may be blood throughout all the land of
Egypt,
both
in vessels of wood, and in vessels of stone.
20 And Moses and Aaron did so, as the LORD
commanded; and he lifted up the rod,
and
smote the waters that were in the river, in the sight of Pharaoh,
and
in the sight of his servants; and all the waters that were in the river were
turned to blood.
21 And the fish that was in the river died; and
the river stank,
and
the Egyptians could not drink of the water of the river;
and
there was blood throughout all the land of Egypt.
22 And the magicians of Egypt did
so with their enchantments:…..
Aaron
and Moses brought frogs out of the river Nile on to the land of Egypt.
The magicians did the same thing.
Exodus 8:5 And the LORD spake
unto Moses, Say unto Aaron,
Stretch
forth thine hand with thy rod over the streams, over the rivers,
and
over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up upon the land of Egypt.
6 And Aaron stretched out his hand over the
waters of Egypt;
and the
frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.
7 And the
magicians did so with their enchantments,
and
brought up frogs upon the land of Egypt.
You
can clearly see that miracles only prove that
miracles happen.
The
final point is how do you tell what is from the Eternal and what is not,
but
rather from the enemy.
The
immediate response is to say well ‘try the spirits’,
this
is scripture.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe
not every spirit,
but try the spirits whether they are of God:
because
many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Can
we evaluate miracles just by what a person says and how they say it?
Words
are very important as every bible scholar knows, but,
Satan
appears as an angel of light and is as smooth as silk.
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel; for
Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Our
words and our deeds have to match up.
We
cannot say one thing and do another, miracle or no miracle.
The
report about Ananias and Sapphira is a case in point.
They
both lied, when there was no need to do so.
Acts 5:8 And Peter answered unto her,
Tell
me whether ye sold the land for so much?
And
she said, Yea, for so much.
9 Then Peter said unto her,
How
is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord?
behold,
the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door,
and
shall carry thee out.
10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet,
and yielded up the ghost:
and
the young men came in, and found her dead, and,
carrying
her forth, buried her by her husband.
Our
words and our deeds have to be in harmony.
This
quote puts what I have been saying into the correct perspective.
1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak
with the tongues of men and of angels,
and
have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and
understand all mysteries,
and
all knowledge; and though I have all faith,
so
that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the
poor,
and
though I give my body to be burned,
and
have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity
envieth not;
charity
vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not
her own,
is
not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in
the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth
all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be
prophecies,
they
shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease;
whether
there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in
part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come,
then
that which is in part shall be done away.
A Miracle
has to be the partner of True Love,
as
shown in 1 Corinthians 13,
if it
is not, it is a work of our adversary.
The only way out of this dilemma is Jesus Christ.
He is the only way of escape.
Praise the Lord.
