          Created In His Image

By Peter James from:   www.peterjamesx.com

What does it mean, that we are created in the image of God?

Genesis 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God

created he him; male and female created he them.

In the Word of God, we learn of three very different categories of spirit,

and they all differ in their glory. This is all from the perspective,

of looking at them, from the earth. We see an example of this here.

As I mention later, stars are also used to represent angels.

1 Corinthians 15:40  There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial:

but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

1 Corinthians 15:41  There is (1) one glory of the sun,

and (2) another glory of the moon,

and (3) another glory of the stars:

for (4) one star differeth from another star in glory.

First is the Eternal God, who is utterly unique, and there is no other being,

who can ever, be on the same level, as the Eternal God.

The Eternal God as Spirit, is completely Holy Spirit.

This is how the Eternal God, appeared to the apostle John, as a glorious spirit being,

which was entirely different from, when John was in His company,

when He was on earth, as Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:13  And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man,

clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

Revelation 1:14  His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow;

and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

Revelation 1:15  And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;

and his voice as the sound of many waters.

Revelation 1:16  And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth

went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

When Saul was struck down on the road to Damascus,

this is what he saw. Note that this happened at midday,

when the sun would be at its brightest. He saw a light which surpassed

the brightness of the sun.

Acts 26:13  At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven,

above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me

and them which journeyed with me.

See our many documents, which show that Christ, the Holy Spirit,

and the Father are one.

Isaiah 9:6  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:

and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful,

Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

The Father put on a garment of flesh to become our saviour.

God as a Spirit Being can neither die, nor be destroyed.

The above is a little overview, of the Eternal God, in His glory.

~~~~~~
The second category of spirit are the angelic, and other heavenly beings.
These are created from spirit, but this is not ‘Holy Spirit’.
We know this because a third of the angels sinned.
If they were created from Holy Spirit, they could not have sinned.
Revelation 12:9   And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent,
called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world:
he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars
(stars used to represent angels) of heaven, and did cast them to the earth:
and the dragon stood before the woman
which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Christ, Himself explained, that stars can represent angels.
Revelation 1:20  The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest
in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks.
The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches:
and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
Angels are created from spirit.
They are on a completely different level to the  Eternal God, in every way.
They are totally comprised of spirit, which means, that they do not have
another physical body, but they can choose to manifest themselves physically.
Upto now angels, as part of the spirit world, are on a higher level than man.
We must not worship angels either holy or evil, but many do.
The devil appeared as an angel of light.
We must remember, that all his false ministers, who are his stooges,
do precisely the same thing.
2 Corinthians 11:14
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11:13  For such are false apostles, deceitful workers,
transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:14  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed
into an angel of light.
2 Corinthians 11:15  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be
transformed as the ministers of righteousness;
whose end shall be according to their works.
Satan craved worship and tried to get Christ to worship him.
Matthew 4:8  Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain,
and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Matthew 4:9  And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee,
if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
Matthew 4:10  Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan:
for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
The apostle John in the presence of a mighty angel,
which was so magnificent, thought that it was worthy of worship.
This gives some idea of how difficult situations can be,
and how easy it can be, to be deceived.
This is the same apostle John, who wrote the gospel of John.
If this was Satan, or another fallen angel, they would have gladly
accepted the worship, and in the process they would have sinned.
Revelation 19:9  And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called
unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me,
These are the true sayings of God.
Revelation 19:10  And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me,
See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have
the testimony of Jesus: worship God:
for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
Holy angels are ministering spirits to serve genuine believers.
The following shows the great gulf between the Eternal God,
and the angels.
Hebrews 1:13  But to which of the angels said he at any time,
Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
Hebrews 1:14  Are they not all ministering spirits,
sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
The apostle James, puts the whole evil spirit versus the Eternal God,
in its right perspective.
James 2:19  Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well:
the devils also believe, and tremble.
We do not need to fear Satan, and his evil spirit co-workers,
because believers,have Christ as the Holy Spirit, dwelling in them.
This enables them to deal with all evil spirits.
Ephesians 6:11  Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,
but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:13  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:14  Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth,
and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Ephesians 6:15  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Ephesians 6:16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able
to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Ephesians 6:17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God:
If as a believer, you are in a good spiritual condition, you can resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. This shows us, that with Christ as the Holy Spirit
dwelling in us, we can already have authority over evil spirits.
This is done, by binding the evil spirit, in the name of Jesus, and by the authority
of his shed blood. We can then assign the evil spirits to the abyss,
that is the deepest depths of the ocean.
Revelation 12:11  And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb,
and by the word of their testimony;
(this testimony is not the testimony, that we are saved,
but rather that Christ has overcome Satan, and the entire evil spirit world,
and therefore they have to obey what we say, because we are acting
under the authority, and in the authority of Christ, and His shed blood)
and they loved not their lives unto the death.
We need to be very careful that we are in excellent spiritual condition,
in order to overcome evil spirits, because it is not a matter of saying
some magical words, or any words at all, for that matter.
I repeat that it is Christ in us, as the Holy Spirit, that makes the difference.
If you are in a condition of sin, you can find yourself in dire circumstances,
if you dabble with evil spirits.
If you give Satan any legal reason to harrass you,
it is possible, that you can end up, like the seven sons,
of the chief of the priests, Scheva.
It is clear that their relationship with their father, or any person at all,
made no difference whatsoever.
Legal reasons can be sinful deeds, or objects, which you might possess,
and you might not even aware, that they are spiritually contaminated.
These can be supposedly religious things like crosses, books,
videos, pornography, etc.
Acts 19:13   Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists,
took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name
of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Acts 19:14  And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew,
and chief of the priests, which did so.
Acts 19:15  And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know,
and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Acts 19:16  And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them,
and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled
out of that house naked and wounded.
Warning: we are never to speak to evil spirits, except to command them,
to carry out our lawful commands.
Although at this time, angels are still higher than us.
It is the indwelling Christ in us, that makes a difference.
James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you.
Hebrews 2:6  But one in a certain place testified, saying,
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man,
that thou visitest him?
Hebrews 2:7  Thou madest him (man) a little lower than the angels;
thou crownedst him with glory and honour,
and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
Hebrews 2:8  Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet.
For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him.
But now we see not yet all things put under him.
Even when Christ came to the earth, as a human being,
He was lower than the angels, in order to suffer death in our individual place.
Hebrews 2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than
the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour;
that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Although angels can be very glorious, when they appear to people,
it is clear that they are not God, and therefore they cannot be worshipped.
To worship either holy or evil angels, is to sin
Holy angels will always refuse worship.
Angels, which are spirit beings, cannot die, but they can be destroyed.
~~~~~

The third category of spirit is the spirit in man.

Hebrews 2:7 quoted above, told us that the composite man, which is made up of the

human body, plus the human spirit, is slightly inferior to angelic spirit beings.

Man as a composite being of body and human spirit,

which is called a soul, can die, and his spirit can be destroyed.

Genesis 2:17  But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,

thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof

thou shalt surely die.

Ezekiel 18:4  Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father,

so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

The Second Death.

Revelation 20:6  Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:

on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God

and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Revelation 21:8  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable,

and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters,

and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:

which is the second death.

~~~~~
Comparing man to God, is their a similarity?
Yes, there is.
We do not have to look anywhere else for a very clear statement,
of who the Father was, and how He looked.
Phililp, one of the disciples, asked Christ to show them the Father.
This is what Christ said.
John 14:8  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
Immediately Christ declared three times, that He was the Father.
He did not point them to another person, who was elsewhere.
He pointed them to Himself.
John 14:9  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?
he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then,
Shew us the Father?
We have seen that there is a similarity in the appearance,
between God and man, but is that all that there is to this?
The answer is no.
The totality of the Eternal God, and a converted man,
are made up of the same three components.
What differs, to a degree which we cannot comprehend,
is the proportion of the makeup, of the Eternal God, compared to man.
Christ, who is God was a man just like any other man.
He could suffer and die, just like any other man.
In this point man and God are equal.
Christ who had a spirit in man, which was necessary for him to become
a human being, was just like any other man.
In this point man and God are equal.
This is where the unbelievable difference occurs.
The Eternal God is completely Holy Spirit.
Even as Christ, was completely full of the Holy spirit.
John 3:34  For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God:
for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.
To those who are called, they are only given a down payment, of the Holy Spirit,
which means, a small amount of the Holy Spirit.
2 Corinthians 1:22  Who hath also sealed us,
and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
2 Corinthians 5:5  Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God,
who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.
When you look at a genuinely converted person,
do you see one person, two persons, or three persons?
You just see one person.
When Philip and the other disciples looked at Christ,
did they see one person, two persons, or three persons?
They just saw one person.
The conclusion of the matter is, that we are made in the image of God,
not only in appearance, but also in composition, with 3 parts,
which only becomes complete, when Christ comes and lives in us as the Holy Spirit,
this is the third and most important part..
This difference in composition, makes the gulf between the Eternal God,
and man, as unbrigeable, as the gap between the Eternal God,
and the holy angels.
The other difference, is that we can only appear as a living soul.
Without the spirit in man, we are just a corpse.
Christ could appear any way that He wanted to do so.
It was totally ludicrous for men, or angels, to believe and act,
as if they are god.
It is foolishness of the highest level.
Isaiah 55:8  For (1) my thoughts are not your thoughts,
(2) neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 55:9 (3)  For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
(4) so are my ways higher than your ways,
(5) and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Think of the difference between a picture of someone,
and having the physical person next to you in reality.
Such is the gulf between the Eternal God, and ourselves,
when we are  in our very best state.
Many believers believe, that their church is the only true church.
They also feel, that they are somehow superior to others,
with the consequence that they look down upon everyone else.
They believe, that because they have the Holy Spirit, or some understanding,
which they imagine is unique to them, they are superior.
The reality is that very often this, wonderful ‘New Understanding’,
is just ‘Error’ dressed up as ‘Truth’.
Never, ever elevate yourself for any reason at all,
because all of us together, the good, and the bad,
are less than nothing.
Isaiah 40:17  All nations before him are as nothing;
and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.
Yes all of us together are less than zero.
We will never ebecome God, as God is God.
There will always be One God, but with Christ dwelling in us,
as the Holy Spirit, we will be His Sons,
but it is arrogance to belive that our status, at some point will change,
and somehow enable us to become like God, that is as God is God.
This will never happen.
Any of God’s character, which we develop,
is a gift from the Eternal God.
James 1:17  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning.
Let us give thanks and be exceedingly grateful,
for what the Eternal God, has done for us, individually.
