Be Brave And Courageous – How?

                 By Peter James from:   www.peterjamesx.com

As we are now living in the most perilous times,

as I have been explaining. It is important that we understand

this instruction that the Eternal God gave to Joshua.

He was told:

Joshua 1:7  Only be thou strong and very courageous, . . .

Moses, who preceded Joshua, had no desire to take on the

task of being the leader, over the 12 tribed nation of Biblical Israel.

He tried to excuse himself from the job.

So much so, that the Eternal God, became very annoyed with him.

Here are his excuses.

Exodus 4:10  And Moses said unto the LORD,

O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore,

nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant:

(Moses was complaining that God had never spoken to him before)

but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

Exodus 4:11  And the LORD said unto him,

Who hath made man’s mouth?

or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind?

have not I the LORD?

Moses was saying please send someone else,

leave me out of this.

Exodus 4:13  And he said, O my Lord,

send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

Exodus 4:14  And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, . . .

So what about you, would you be any better?

What if the Eternal God called you to do a very important job,

in these end times, and it took you completely out of your comfort zone?

Would you be able to summon up your human resources,

to be brave and courageous?

Is this simply a hypothetical question?

Is this simply something in our heads, some sort of intellectual mind game?

When a tornado, hurricane, or wall of water comes crashing down

on your dwelling, how are you going to be brave and courageous?

When a couple of giant faces,

appear looking through your second floor window,

how are you going to be brave and courageous?

When an unmanned drone, or manned aircraft, or lunatic gunman,

or a swat team, comes for you,

how are you going to be brave and courageous?

Most of these, are all very real situations, that are happening right now.

First of all being brave, and courageous is not something,

that you can drum up.

There is no mantra, that you can keep repeating endlessly,

which will give you courage and bravery, as opposed to fear.

The judgment for being fearful, which is linked to unbelief,

is going to the lake of fire.

As I keep saying, fear and unbelieft heads the list,

of abominations, above murder and sorcery.

Revelation 21:8  But the fearful, and unbelieving,

and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers,

and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,

shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:

which is the second death.

To be fearless is a gift from the Eternal God.

The following  verse tells us several things.

2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

These are not normal human attributes.

(1) It shows us why fear is punished so very harshly.

It is because it is caused by an evil spirit.

(2) Therefore if we fear, it shows that we fear Satan,

rather than having trust in the Eternal God.

Constantly throughout His ministry, Christ said to His people,

in the Old and New Testament:  “Fear Not”

Isaiah 41:10

  Fear thou not;

for I am with thee:

be not dismayed; for I am thy God:

I will strengthen thee;

yea, I will help thee; yea,

I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Luke 12:7  But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

(3) We should know that the only way to deal with an evil spirit,

in any shape or form, is with the Holy Spirit

(4) We are told that we have been given the Holy Spirit,

when we are told that we have been given, Power, Love,

and a Sound Mind.

These are all atributes of the Holy Spirit, and not of man.

As we are going through a period, which is similar to the days of Noah,

and as we have become worse than Sodom,

these questions need our urgent consideration.

This is what Joshua was told after Moses died.

His task was clearly assigned to him.

It is very similar to the situation regarding the Manchild,

Warrior Bride of Christ today.

The number of people, for whom Moses had given responsibility,

was probably around 3 million, or more,

as they were all the 12 tribes of Israel, plus a mixed multitude.

Joshua 1:1  Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD

it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun,

Moses’ minister, saying,

Joshua 1:2  Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise,

go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which

I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

The enormous extent of the land is detailed.

Joshua 1:3  Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon,

that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

Joshua 1:4  From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto

the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites,

and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun,

shall be your coast.

Joshua was commanded to be strong and of good courage.

This was not a suggestion.

It was a command.

Was it because of the nephilim (giants),

and the satan worshippers that were in the land ?

Joshua 1:6  Be strong and of a good courage:

for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land,

which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

It was a command that is immediately repeated.

Joshua 1:9  Have not I commanded thee?

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid,

neither be thou dismayed: . . .

After Joshua told the people, what they LORD had told him,

this was their response.

Joshua 1:16 ¶  And they answered Joshua, saying,

All that thou commandest us we will do,

and whithersoever thou sendest us, we will go.

Joshua 1:17  According as we hearkened unto Moses

in all things, so will we hearken unto thee:

only the LORD thy God be with thee, as he was with Moses.

The people then went even further.

They said.

If anyone rebelled against what Joshua commanded them,

they would be killed.

Joshua 1:18  Whosoever he be that doth rebel against

thy commandment, and will not hearken unto thy words

in all that thou commandest him, he shall be put to death:

The Lord commanded Joshua to be strong and courageous.

Joshua 1:7  Only be thou strong and very courageous, . . .

Now the people gave encouragement to Joshua,

and they also told him to be strong, and of good courage.

They told him the same thing.

Joshua 1:18 . . . only be strong and of a good courage.

Now we will see what this all really means.

The Eternal God tells Joshua right at the beginning of His

instructions to him, that He will be with him, throughout his life,

and that He will neither fail nor forsake him.

He also told him, that no one will be able to successfully oppose him.

Personally those are the only three requests,

that I would ask for myself.

I cannot see what more anyone could ask, in this life.

Joshua 1:5  There shall not any man be able to stand before thee

all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so

A. I will be with thee:

B. I will not fail thee,

C. nor forsake thee.

Christ told him that he had to be strong and courageous,

not because of the great strength, and size of his adversaries,

but rather, that he would have the strength and courage

to keep the law of God, and that he must not move away,

either to the right or the left.

His message for us today is exactly the same.

The big difference is that today we feel that the law,

which tells us not to kill, lie, steal and covet, not to worship idols,

not to commit adultery and to observe the Sabbath, is a curse.

The net result is, that as we think that it is a curse,

we, ourselves become cursed.

It is absurd beyond belief, but nonetheless true.

Can you begin to imagine what the world would be like

if we obeyed these commandments, and then took them

up to the higher plane of the New Testament, where we are not

even allowed to think of carrying out these sins.

Are you surprised, that the rejected Old Testament,

commanded us to love our neightbours as ourselves.

The question is do we obey this commandment?

Leviticus 19:18  Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge

against the children of thy people,

but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:34  But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be

unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself;

for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

So Christ was actually quoting the Old Testament,

when He commanded us to love God and our neighbour.

Matthew 12:30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,

and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:

this is the first commandment.

Matthew 12:31  And the second is like, namely this,

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

There is none other commandment greater than these.

As I said the change, which Christ made was moving sin,

from deeds to even thoughts.

The required standards had been raised greatly.

I wish that Christians would really meditate on these things.

Matthew 5:28  But I say unto you,

That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her

hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

We can now see why Joshua was being told to be strong,

and very courageous. He could expect temptations of every sort.

The nephilim (giants), were truly a very small matter,

in spite of their size, if he obeyed the LORD.

Joshua 1:7  Only be thou strong and very courageous, . . .

that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law,

which Moses my servant commanded thee:

turn not from it to the right hand or to the left,

When Moses was 120 years old he called all Israel together

and told them to be strong and courageous:

Can you see a pattern here?

If you read the surrounding verses, you will see that

nothing changes at all. Everything centres on obedience.

The Eternal God would fight their battles, for them.

As God is not a respecter of persons,

He would do precisely the same for us today.

Deuteronomy 31: 6  Be strong and of a good courage,

fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God,

he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee,

nor forsake thee

There would be rewards for obedience,

wherever he went he would prosper.

Joshua 1:7. . .  that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

Which law was Christ referring to, and what should Joshua do?

Joshua 1:8

A. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but

B. thou shalt meditate therein day and night,

C. that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: . . .

There would be even more rewards for obedience.

He would prosper and be successful in everything that, did.

Joshua 1:8  . . .

D. for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,

E. and then thou shalt have good success.

There would be even more rewards for obedience,

he would prosper throughout the enormous land,

which he would conquer.

Joshua 1:9  . . .

Have not I commanded thee?

F. for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

This law that Joshua was told to obey, very carefully,

was to be the foundation stone, for the conquest of the Promised Land.

It is the very same law, that New Testament Christians tell us

has been ‘done away with’.

It is the very same law, that Christ said would be implemented in His Kingdom.

You can believe precisely what you would like to believe,

either in arrogance and/or ignorance.

It will change nothing at all, except of course your fate.

It is the very same law, that Satan uses to successfully accuse Believers,

before the throne of the Eternal God.

Revelation 12:10  And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven,

Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God,

and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down,

which accused them before our God day and night.

Satan never forces anyone to sin.

He lies and deceives us, and we then willingly go along with him,

in our rebellion.

Therefore we have to be brave and courageous,

because in reality we are facing a confrontation,

between the most powerful force in the universe, apart from God the Father,

and Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:12  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but

against principalities,

against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness of this world,

against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Of course there are commandments in the Old Testament

that do not apply today. As I keep saying,

that if we understand it, the bar has been raised very much higher

in the New Testament, than it was in the Old Testament.

Absolutely nothing negates the word’s of Christ,

who is the very same God of the Old Testament,

as He is the very same God of the New Testament.

Very few indeed even understand this basic truth.

This is what is going to happen.

A. Ultimately there will be a new and permanent heavens and earth.

B. so shall your seed (Biblical Israel) and your name remain

Isaiah 66: 22  For as  (A) the new heavens and the new earth,

which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD,

(B) so shall your seed and your name remain.

C. There will be worship on the New Moons.

D. There will be worship on the weekly Sabbaths.

Isaiah 66: 23  And it shall come to pass,

(C)  that from one new moon to another,

(D) and from one sabbath to another,

shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Do you realise that Christ was so absolutely fed up with

the ancient nation of the twelve tribes of Israel,

that he wanted to destroy them, and replace them, with an

entirely new group, which He would make from scratch?

This is what He told Moses.

Deuteronomy 9:13  Furthermore the LORD spake unto me,

saying, I have seen this people, and, behold,

it is a stiffnecked people:

Deuteronomy 9:14  Let me alone, that I may destroy them,

and blot out their name from under heaven:

and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

It was only because of Moses, that the nation of Israel,

and even Aaron, his brother was not destroyed.

Deuteronomy 9:19  For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure,

wherewith the LORD was wroth against you to destroy you.

But the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also.

Deuteronomy 9:20  And the LORD was very angry with Aaron

to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time

Can you now see the great importance of being brave and very

courageous to obey the Laws of the Eternal God.

Quit following the lying, self seeking pastors, and tele-evangelists,

whilst there is still a little time.

You can be a very valiant warrior, for the Eternal God in these

perilous times, which are only going to get worse day after day.

However, it is not by some worked up emotion,

or your physical strength, and prowess.

You need the mark of the Holy Spirit in your forehead

This can only happen, if you repent and are then obedient.

Zechariah 4:6  Then he answered and spake unto me, saying,

This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying,

A. Not by might,

B. nor by power,

C. but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

You now know all that there is to know about being

brave and courageous.

What are you going to do about it?
