Grace And Works
31/05/2008
Romans 11:5 Even so then
at this present time also there is a remnant
according to the election of grace.
Romans 11:6 And if by
grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is
no more grace. But if it be
of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work
is no more work.
These
verses are saying that Works are Works and Grace is Grace.
Although
works will never result in salvation or being part of the warrior bride.
It
is by the Grace of God that we are allowed to be part
of
the works of God.
This
is an incredible underserved blessing of stupendous proportions.
What is ‘Grace’?
Grace
has several meanings, amongst its meanings is unmerited favour.
The
primary meaning as far as I am concerned is that ‘Grace’, is Christ.
Grace
and Truth came into the world, because Christ brought them into the world.
That
is what this verse says.
John 1:17 For the law
was given by Moses, but grace and
truth came by Jesus
Christ.
full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 And the Word
was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the
glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace
and truth.
Jesus Christ Is The Holy Spirit Jesus Is God The Holy Spirit Is God
As
we state on our documents and most videos, Christ is the solution to all
our
problems because, He personifies, love, mercy, faith, truth, grace,
patience,
wisdom, life, and every necessary quality which we not only need,
but
are critical necessities.
Without
Christ we would not have life, either physical or spiritual.
It
is as simple as that.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me.
This is not symbolic language it
is an absolute truth.
In
Christ’s human body dwelt the fullness of the Godhead.
John 3:34 For he whom
God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God
giveth not the Spirit
by measure unto him.
John 3:35 The Father
loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
John 3:36 He that
believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that
believeth not the Son shall not
see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
chose
to clothe Himself with, when He came into the world.
It is for this reason
that Christ did not have the spirit by measure.
By contrast, we, as born from
above believers also do have the Godhead
dwelling in us, but it is by
measure.
The analogy I used to try to
explain this miracle is that it as if we were
a bit of iron, and we had been magnetised
by a gigantic magnet of unlimited
size, and power.
When we are born from above on
repentance, we actually become the
living ‘Temple of the Living God’
, which is our created purpose.
Before that we were simply the
walking dead, like most of the world today.
A piece of iron can be magnetised
a little bit, or a great deal,
but you cannot have a single
piece of iron, certainly under normal
circumstances, have only a
percentage of the iron magnetised.
Regardless of how you consider
it, we were created to be the temple of the
living God. Unfortunately most of
us are living a ‘Defeated Life’ ,
as explained in my Video: The Defeated
Life
Most are just walking dead.
1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not
that ye are the temple of God, and that the
Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
Grace is unmerited
favour.
what we are doing, under the
guise of worshipping God.
We have made this god in our own
image, and likeness.
We tell Him, our demands, and
harass Him to fulfil, what often is nothing
more than our lusts, and we want
instant gratification.
It is normal to refuse
correction.
It is normal to be rebellious.
It is in this state we were
called.
We have our created God in our
coat pockets, and we pull Him out whenever
some trouble or difficulty
arises.
Of course if He does not comply
immediately we then
blame Him for the mess into which
we have gotten ourselves.
This concept is an extension of
the Roman Catholic doctrine, that they are
not only God, but they pull His
strings. Of course most of us feel that we do
not have anything to do with that
Church.
Here is an example of
grace.
You say that in the garden, there
are some fruit on a tree.
Let us say cherries.
It is a good crop. There are
masses of cherries.
The fruit is absolutely mouth
watering, just waiting to be eaten.
You look at a bunch of cherries
and you select this one and that one.
You did not just say any cherry
is a cherry and start eating.
You cherry picked your way to
whatever it was that attracted you,
the size, the colour and so on.
It is exactly the same with us.
Christ said, I want this one, and
that one.
These are the ones I want and
these are the jobs that I want them to do.
These are the ones I want to be
in my bride.
The two groups are not
necessarily the same at all.
What did we do to get
selected?
Absolutely nothing at
all.
Pharoah, Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus,
were all called by God to do specific jobs.
The Eternal God called them His
servants.
To be Called,
To be Chosen,
To be part of the Warrior Bride
of Christ, is all a matter of grace.
It literally has nothing
whatsoever to do with works, status or anything at all.
The apostle Paul is the classic example of someone called to be a
Christian.
We are told a great deal about him.
It was while he was in the
horrific situation of persecuting and killing
Christians that he was called.
Acts 22:4 And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding
and delivering
into prisons both men
and women.
Acts 26:11 And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and
compelled them
to blaspheme; and
being exceedingly mad against them,
I persecuted them
even unto strange cities.
Paul had to reap what
he had sown, and he certainly did that.
Forgiveness does not necessarily do away with the penalty of any sin.
2 Corinthians 11:23 Are they
ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool)
I am more; in labours more
abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons
more frequent, in deaths oft.
2 Corinthians 11:24 Of the Jews
five times received I forty stripes save one.
2 Corinthians 11:25 Thrice was I
beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice
I suffered shipwreck, a night and
a day I have been in the deep;
2 Corinthians 11:26 In
journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of
robbers, in perils by mine
own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils
in the city, in perils in
the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among
false brethren;
2 Corinthians 11:27 In weariness
and painfulness, in watchings often,
in hunger and thirst, in fastings
often, in cold and nakedness.
We have to understand that it is
in spite of our pitiful condition, and when we
were in that thoroughly messed up
state that we were called.
I have spoken to people who, see
themselves as somewhat special.
They know they are sinners but
they do not see themselves as bad as some
of the people, who have been
involved in witchcraft etc.
This is quite an interesting
concept, which is not very different from being
a little pregnant!!
James 2:10 For
whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one
point, he
is guilty of all.
on planet earth. He knew the
utter mess that we would make of our lives,
because He knows the end from the
beginning.
He is not concerned in the
slightest with the ‘image’ which we like to project
of ourselves. That is meaningless
and pointless.
The Eternal God says of Himself
that He declares:
Isaiah 46:10 Declaring
the end from the beginning, and from ancient times
the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel
shall stand,
and I will do all my pleasure:
So in spite of seeing the
nightmare that we were going to be to Him, others,
and ourselves, He still wrote the
names of His ‘called out ones’,
which is what the word church
means, in the book of life.
This is Grace.
Revelation 17:8 The beast
that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend
out of the bottomless pit, and go
into perdition: and they that dwell on the
earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of
life from
the foundation
of the world, when they behold the beast that
was, and is not,
and yet is.
There was no uncertainty in what
we would do, and what Adam and Eve would
do. It is for this reason we are
told that Christ was slain at the foundation of
the world. We have to keep remembering
that the Eternal God, Christ lives
in Eternity and not in time and
space. Events which take place in Eternity are
then brought into Time and Space,
at the appointed time.
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall
worship him,
whose names are not written in
the book of life of the Lamb slain from
the
foundation of the
world.
This is Grace.
‘counselling’ and bible
correspondence courses, before you could be deemed
to be ready to be baptised and
become a member of the church.
In fact one friend who was having
some serious financial persecution, was told
to sort out the financial
problems and then contact them again and they would
see if it was ok for baptism to
take place.
Those were the restrictions of
joining that Church.
There is no such restriction to
join the genuine Church of Christ.
Can you see the problem with
this?
This Baptism depended on works.
The church was not putting out a
hand of support.
Similarly I was told in a
nutshell that I had to go through a process,
and as it were. If I were
successful I would be considered for baptism.
What utter nonsense.
In fact many of these ministers
who promoted this are now doing their own
thing, with Sunday worship and
all sorts of rebellion, which they previously
preached against.
Learn from Paul’s experience.
The Word of God cannot be broken.
You can play as many games with
it as you wish.
Ultimately you will be held
accountable for your works and your words.
There is no escape.
Every church was told that the
Eternal God knows their works, good or bad,
and every church was held
accountable. Repentance was called for.
We have to become overcomers or
suffer the consequences.
Read it in Revelation chapters 2
& 3.
Never, ever think that you have
time.
Your number can be literally
pulled at any time.
Are you going to be an ‘if only person’?
Luke 12:19 And I will
say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for
many years; take thine ease, eat,
drink, and be merry.
Luke 12:20 But God said
unto him, Thou fool, this
night thy soul shall be
required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast
provided?
There is a question I like to ask.
It is and then?
or and then
what?
This night thy soul shall be
required of thee, and then?
It is a very good question to
keep asking, when considering any situation.
What we ought to be doing now was
declared from the foundation of the
world.
Hebrews 4:3 For we which
have believed do enter into rest, as he said,
As I have sworn in my wrath, if
they shall enter into my rest: although the
works were finished from the foundation of the world.
So many things were accomplished
at the foundation of the earth,
and most are completely ignorant
of these matters.
We have just referred to two
events, here is another.
Zechariah 12:1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel,
saith the
LORD, which stretcheth forth the
heavens, and layeth the foundation of the
earth, and formeth the spirit of
man within him.
Yes, what we should be doing was
established at the same time the spirit
in man, which is in us, was
created.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift
of God:
Ephesians 2:9 Not of
works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are
his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto
good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
A genuine Christian will perform
works although it has nothing to do with
obtaining salvation or being part
of the manchild, the bride of Christ.
This is all a matter of Grace.
So is going to a charity bash, be
it a quiz show, a charity-run semi-clad, etc,
a soup kitchen, a bridge or coffee
morning, what we should be doing?
If you honestly feel that the above
activities are God ordained
then by all means do it, but I have to tell you
that I strongly doubt it.
There is a primary specific
objective that our works should accomplish.
They should result in our Father in
heaven receiving praise and glory.
Matthew 5:16 Let your
light so shine before men, that they may see your
good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Therefore if the good works that we
do, do not glorify our Father in heaven,
then we can be assured that we are
on to a loser.
Does running around the street half
naked for charity for a sponsored
run glorify the Eternal God ?
I think not.
Does sponsored cycle rides, swims
etc glorify the Eternal God?
I think not.
They might well exalt the ego even
further, and in the process give massive
corporations publicity and
financial benefit.
If the government stopped wasting
money on false issues,
and stopped trying to control and
manipulate us to a ridiculous degree,
and if they stopped feathering
their nests in all sorts of subtle and not so
subtle ways, we would be
considerably better off.
Fighting immoral wars on borrowed
money,
whilst claiming to be Christian,
does not qualify as ‘good works’ .
In fact they will inevitably result
in judgment.
That is what we are now seeing
worldwide.
The works which genuine believers
do, will often be motivated by the
indwelling Holy Spirit, as long as
we are trying to walk the walk.
The apostle James makes the
difference between works and grace quite
clear. The works that we do will be
driven by faith, as often they will be
outside of our ability. This will
be the faith of Christ, and the works
will be the works of Christ.
This is where a genuine Christian
lives, doing things beyond his/her abilities.
This is because the Eternal God is
involved.
make them right.
Our own works doing our own thing
our better way delays Christ’s return.
Notice that the first two verses
are speaking of those who are doing
‘Spiritual Things’.
1 Corinthians 13:1 ¶ Though I
speak with the tongues of men and of angels,
and have not charity, I am become
as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I
have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries, and all knowledge; and
though I have all faith, so that I could
remove mountains, and have not
charity, I am nothing.
This verse then speaks
of extreme physical things.
1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I
bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and though I give my body to be
burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me
nothing.
The verses which follow then
explain how we should be living, some of the
works that we should be doing.
1 Corinthians 13:4 ¶ Charity
suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not;
charity vaunteth not itself, is
not puffed up,
1 Corinthians 13:5 Doth not
behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is
not easily provoked, thinketh no
evil;
1 Corinthians 13:6 Rejoiceth
not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
1 Corinthians 13:7 Beareth all
things, believeth all things, hopeth all things,
endureth all things.
Finally we can see the
link between faith and works.
James 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by
works was
faith made perfect?
We have seen that Grace
is Christ, He is our unmerited gift from the Father.
As a result we have
Forgiveness, Salvation and the possibility of being
part of the warrior
bride of Christ.
As a consequence of
Grace, we will live a life of works, which have been
prepared for us from the
foundation of the world as opposed to doing
our own thing.
This will give glory and honour to the
name which is above all names,
Jesus Christ, The Eternal God.
Be
Humble Repent Listen
To The Eternal God Obey Him.
This is very easy to say, but
I assure you that it is physically an impossibility without
the empowerment of the Eternal
God.
Just going up to some altar
call, running to some church, or isolating yourself
in the hope that somehow it will
all go away, will not do it.
What are you going to do about it before it
is too late?
