Forsaking The Assembling Of Ourselves – Updated 2011

                              by Peter James

Hebrews 10:24  And let us consider one another to provoke unto love

and to good works:

Hebrews 10:25  Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,

as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another:

and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

In my experience I cannot recall anyone mentioning verse 24

regarding provoking each other to good works.

However, I constantly get verse 25 thrown in my face.

I am often referred to this verse, in order to convince me that I should

be meeting with some church group or other.

Usually what is meant is,

‘You should be meeting with us, if you want to be assured

of your salvation’.

Everyone seems to be very anxious to meet or to force others

to meet together, and this is the verse which is used to make

the point.

The reality is that most people are made to feel that to fellowship,

with some group is an imperative necessity regardless of the spiritual

condition of that group.

Of course the churches capitalise on loneliness, which is a worldwide

problem. Everywhere, everyone is looking for friends.

For that reason dating websites are very popular.

The church is now more of a social networking place.

The messages are either blatantly wrong,

or have no substance whatsoever, but that does not really matter.

After the meeting the enjoyable refreshment and weekly ‘chat’,

makes the whole thing worthwhile.

The exceedingly strong pull of a ‘social club, keep many attending

the pointless dead weekly ritual.

What is certainly very rare indeed is to find ‘Truth’,

in any of these organisations called ‘Churches’,

regardless of the fancy title.

Some question how else could they keep the Sabbath?

(whichever day they have decided is the Sabbath,

they do not even ask which day is the Sabbath)

The focus of the week, for many ‘Christians’, is the meeting together.

Most fail to realise that what we need, and ought to diligently pursue

is a direct personal relationship, and fellowship with the Eternal God,

and Jesus Christ, regardless of what the mass

of False Shepherds say.

Most churches greatly discourage this because, they all want

to be the middle man between you and Christ.

This means that they in fact control if you get saved or not.

This is an absurd lie.

The focus of this website is that we should all have,

a personal relationship with Christ.

Is it wrong to meet together?

Of course it is not.

The verse plainly says do not forsake the assembling of ourselves

together as we see the day approaching.

However, we ought to ask ourselves whether we should attend

a meeting, that dishonours God, is clearly against the clear word

of scripture, and even blatantly misleads those attending it?

Are we meeting together because we are agreed?

Are we meeting together because we are of the same mind and spirit?

If we are not in agreement in our mind and spirit, then we are

fooling and deceiving ourselves and each other by our ritualistic

meeting, but we are not deceiving the Eternal.

Amos 3:3  Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

This pertinent scripture needs to be carefully considered because

there are thousands who believe that it is possible to walk together

when they do not agree. They do not want to accept the fact,

although they know it, that in the meeting or the organisation

as a whole, there is no unity.

Many people do not want to be confused by ‘Truth’.

They prefer to live a lie.

They allow themselves to be blinded to what they clearly see.

They know that they are part of a group whose members are

in disagreement on basic, fundamental issues,

but regardless they continue to meet under the same roof or umbrella

organization, with the vain hope that somehow there will be some

miracle to resolve all the problems, and in the end it will all work out,

and all will be well.

They say that God will work it all out.

They feel that they can sit back, relax and be onlookers

on the side lines.

They ignore the fact that we are directly involved.

Whether we like it or not, we are participants, not observers.

We have to chose to obey.

That is how it has always been from the time of Adam and Eve.

It has never changed.

In many churches there splits, and some members, even members

of the same family do not speak to each other.

Here is a question for you.

Do you think that this is acceptable to the Eternal God?

Do you think that such a thing will take place in the Kingdom of God?

If you say no, then can you consider that you are a part of,

the kingdom of God now, or will be part of the Kingdom of God?

We have to be living a life of ‘Life’, now.

If we are not, we will most definitely not having ‘Life’, in the future.

Deuteronomy 30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day

against you, that I have set before you life and death,

blessing and cursing:

therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

We find that each split in each group does what is right in its own eyes.

This is exactly what was happening in Israel and Judah

Judges 21:25  In those days there was no king in Israel:

every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

There is no harmony.

There is no oneness.

There is not even concealed confusion but open disagreement between

the various cliques, as each group squares up against the another.

This can even lead to hostility and enmity in what

claims to be the body of Christ.

Everyone needs to seriously consider whether they are part of the Body

of Christ in reality.

Christ said:

John 10:30  I and my Father are one.

The apostle Paul then goes on to explain the oneness of the body.

The various schisms in each group admit to their own uniqueness.

Of course each feels that they are right.

Romans 12:5  So we, being many, are one body in Christ,

and every one members one of another.

1 Corinthians 12:12  For as the body is one, and hath many members,

and all the members of that one body, being many,

are one body: so also is Christ.

The reality is that if there is no oneness in the body, there is no body.

There is just a collection of body parts.

Christ is not going to return to dismembered bits and pieces of a body.

Meeting together does not make us one body.

To be one we have to be of the same spirit, enjoying the unity of Christ.

We need to ask ourselves whether we are just performing rituals, and making

pointless sacrifices by our meeting together.

We can quite easily spend our time more profitable at home,

even if we were only sleeping!

1 Samuel 15:22  And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight

in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD?

Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

We are clearly told to obey is better than to sacrifice.

We, however, prefer to sacrifice than to obey,

and therein lies the problem.

What is required is obedience not rituals.

We cannot hide our rebellion and disobedience by our ritualistic activities.

There can well be a period, when you are unable to meet with others

of like mind, because up to now you have not been introduced

to any such people.

It is silly to keep meeting with people, with whom you strongly disagree,

just in order not to forsake the assembling together.

Some erroneously think that the way to keep the Sabbath is to attend a meeting,

any meeting.

Exodus 20:8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Exodus 20:9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Exodus 20:10  But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God:

in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,

thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle,

nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Exodus 20:11  For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea,

and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:

wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

It is true that the Sabbath is also a commanded holy convocation,

which means a time of meeting together, with other members

of the body of Chris, and not some debating or other club.

Leviticus 23:3  Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day

is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein:

it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Leviticus 23:7  In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation:

ye shall do no servile work therein.

At this time it is only occasionally possible for a few of us to meet

together due to the distances involved, and the fact that there are so very

few people who accept that the Sabbath should be observed.

It most definitely does not mean that we should just meet up with

others who claim to be ‘Christian’, when they have absolutely

no concept of the basic laws of the Eternal God, and have no interest

at all in what is required of us by the Eternal God.

The Sabbath is a joy to me, and I keep it on my own.

At present I am not aware of others of like mind,

who live near enough to me, to meet with me.

I am fully aware that I have entered into the Sabbath rest of the New Testament,

and the reality is that I enjoy this every single day.

My accusers, who claim that I am wrong to observe the weekly and annual

Sabbaths, and who also claim that I am under a curse, and should be enjoying

the Sabbath rest daily, do not, and can never enjoy the daily Sabbath rest,

which they claim I should be enjoying.

You can only enjoy the daily Sabbath Rest if you are not in rebellion,

and are calling the and enjoying the Weekly Sabbath, not as a burden,

but as a delight.

The Eternal God calls it ‘My Holy Day’.

This means that we have absolutely no say in the matter,

as it is not ours.

The choice, which we have is to obey or to be in rebellion.

I know many people who observe the Sabbath, but for them it is a burden,

they cannot wait for it to end, so that they can do their own thing.

and enjoy themselves.

Isaiah 58:13  If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath,

from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight,

the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him,

not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure,

nor speaking thine own words:

The problem is that like most problems, with supposed ‘Bible Believers’,

is this. It is all a matter of intellectual arguments in our minds,

and it all has very little  to do, with the practical application in our daily lives.

Their ‘Christianity’, is an add-on for meetings and bible studies.

Many even have a serious ‘Sabbath’ face.

The fact that at present most of us cannot meet together,

in no way diminishes the blessing that the Sabbath is to us.

There are several of us who are scattered,

and we agree with this point of view.

We all enjoy the weekly Sabbath.

We fellowship together by phone and email,

but our primary fellowship is with the Father and Jesus Christ.

One day it will be possible to meet together, but at present this is not

the case so we are contented, with the position in which we find ourselves,

and we do not complain.

Philippians 4:11  Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned,

in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

We are determined not to live a lie, neither will we contemplate the sham

of meeting together, with those with whom we are in complete disagreement,

as so many do.

I have seen this in large groups and small groups.

There are divisions and there are cliques.

Even family members do not speak to each other,

much less the members.

I repeat.

Do we really believe that this farce is acceptable to the Eternal God?

Do we really believe that this will happen, when Christ sets up His kingdom?

The answer is a most definite ‘NO’.

In this verse the Eternal is speaking to the people of God.

Revelation 18:4  And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,

Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins,

and that ye receive not of her plagues.

He is addressing ‘My People’.

You will see from the context that this is a Political and Religious union

that the people of God are commanded to leave.

To stay as part of that system under the misguided feeling that you will

be saved by association with a group, is a gross error.

It will never happen.

Ultimately we have to stand on our own two legs.

Romans 14:12  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

We are responsible for ourselves.

Ezekiel 14:13  Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing

grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it,

and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it,

and will cut off man and beast from it:

Ezekiel 14:14  Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it,

they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness,

saith the Lord GOD.

It follows that if you come out of a group for a period of time

you might well be alone.

We have to get it into our thick heads that the first requirement is obedience.

If we do not obey, we will suffer the consequences.

Your very meeting together with others who are not part of the body of Christ,

was not your salvation but rather the reason,

for the predicament in which you will find yourself, suffering and torment.

You will be a partaker of the sins and plagues that will be poured out on

false Babylon as the scripture states.

To come out of Babylon of course means that you will more than likely

lose your ‘Church Friends’ and your ‘Peers’ as they will inevitably tend

to reject and even demonize you.

We cannot be men pleasers.

Galatians 1:10   For do I now persuade men, or God?

or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men,

I should not be the servant of Christ.

It needs to be mentioned that many groups, and cults have mastered

the art or we can even call it the science of mind controlling

the intelligent who are seeking God.

They have perfected controlling and manipulating their followers.

The Eternal hates control and manipulation.

Revelation 2:6  But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans,

which I also hate.

This is how Scofield explains it.

[1] (Nicolaitanes)        [Marg] (Nicolaitanes)

[1] (Nicolaitanes)

From nikao, "to conquer," and laos, "the people," or "laity."

There is no ancient authority for a sect of the

Nicolaitanes.  If the word is symbolic it refers to the earliest form

of the notion of a priestly order, or "clergy,"

which later divided an equal brotherhood #Mt 23:8 into "priests"

and "laity."  What in Ephesus was "deeds"

#Re 2:6 had become in Pergamos a "doctrine #Re 2:15.

[Marg] (Nicolaitanes) #Re 2:15, contra, #1Pe 5:2,3 Mt 24:49.

It is telling us that the Eternal God hates the control and manipulation

that the clergy

enforces on the laity.

Honestly ask yourself is that not what is happening in your church?

Further more if you don’t like what they do you can leave, is that not right?

Of course you can leave but almost none do.

The leaders have firmly imprinted in the minds of their members

that to leave the group is not only to be a failure,

but even worse, your very salvation is at risk because you are

defying the ministers of the one true Church, . . .

you can fill in the name of your spiritual organization, to which you belong.

Of course these false ministers also use a scripture to justify their demands.

Hebrews 13:17  Obey them that have the rule over you,

and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls,

as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy,

and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

This scripture has been used even by ministers and priests to force

their lustful, adulterous wishes on vulnerable girls, women and even boys.

As no believer wants to lose their salvation their followers accept and

tolerate every lie, and abuse under the false notion that they must obey

their leaders, who many times have been found to be impoverishing,

and abusing the very people who have come to them for help.

The sad sheep feel that all this is pleasing to God.

This is an outright lie.

These sheeple need to realize that the abuse of the flock by the shepherds

and indeed by some of the flock is deeply deplored by the Eternal

and greatly saddens Him.

See Ezekiel chapter 34 where you will find graphic details of this.

In the book of Jeremiah you will also find further particulars

about the adulterous prophets and priests.

Yes, it is good to meet with people who are of like mind, but it is folly

to meet with others who actually oppose the Eternal, because you believe

that that is what the Eternal requires when

it is entirely contrary to His heart’s desires.

Ezekiel 44:23  And they shall teach my people the difference between

the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between

the unclean and the clean.

Leviticus 10:10  And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy,

and between unclean and clean;

The Christian walk can be considered to having

to walk up a set of moving stairs, which are going down.

If you stop walking up, you do not stagnate,

but you go backwards.

Jeremiah 7:24  But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear,

but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart,

and went backward, and not forward.

To mix with unbelievers in meetings contaminates believers.

It is my experience that the truth that people thought they had

is taken away from them, although the subjects that were

previously understood are not addressed.

Christ told Eve not even to touch the fruit, much less not to eat it.

That is what she said, and Christ did not say that she was lying.

As I have often said, if just the tip of your finger touches a pile

of mess all of you feels unclean,

even if you wash your hands several times.

Genesis 3:3  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden,

God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

This is a very interesting verse.

Even what you think you have can be taken from you.

Luke 19:26  For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given;

and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

If you go into a smoke filled room, even if you do not smoke,

it is inevitable that you will come out smelling of smoke.

Let us be careful to obey rather than make sacrifices that are not only

not required, but are actually deeds of rebellion.

Foxes cannot have fellowship with sheep,

even in sheep’s clothing they will decimate the flock.
